My windshield fluid pump went out...?

    This is indicative of the fuse fitting loose in the socket or not inserted completely.

    Thanks for the help guys, my washer pump stopped working and I went through the steps you outlined here to diagnose it...
    I thought I might put it into one post and add a couple of my own notes:

    1. If you pull the lever and the pump makes noise but doesn't spray its probably a crimped or cut hose.
    2. If it does not make noise, its either electrical or a seized motor.
    a. Check the fuse first, mine was behind the little pull out compartment next to your left knee on the drivers side. Open it and keep pulling. There is a map of the fuse box in the manual. 10A WSH
    b. if the fuse is good, you have to check for power to the motor. There are two places to get to the connectors. Just past the exposed wires heading to the pump there is a small connector (just smaller than a penny) that you can take apart with a small flat head screwdriver. Or there is a bigger connector (just larger than a quarter) that feeds directly to the motor. If you have a tester or meter, check both prongs in either location. With someone holding the lever (key on), the black lead grounded to the truck, the red lead should show power on both prongs. If it has power the motor is bad.
    c. If you don't have a tester, before you disconnect the connectors, hold lever down for 20 seconds. Then open up the bigger connector and feel the back of the motor. If it's warm, it's dead.

    3.If it is dead it's easy to replace. I didn't want a hassle so i spent a fortune on an OEM. $68 at the dealership. Much cheaper at the auto parts stores but not sure if the connectors will be perfectly matched.
    a. if you remove the hose from the pump it will gravity feed onto the ground, so if your reservoir isn't empty you might want to siphon it into a jug. auto parts stores have cheap hand pump siphon hoses so you don't have to drink washer fluid (I'm so over doing it the old fashion way)
    b. with the wires disconnected and the hose removed, remove the two bolts and pull the reservoir out.
    c. removing the pump from the reservoir just takes a little force, twist and pull a bunch and it will come out.
    d. my new pump didn't come with a rubber gasket so i had to take it off the old one. I found that to get the new pump in, you should put the gasket into the reservoir and then slide the new motor into the gasket.

    Reconnect everything, bolt it in, fill it up and you should be good to go
