You guys splitting hairs on up or down an inch doesn't make much sense to me. Lift height doesn't seem to make much difference off roading with these small changes. Extra suspension travel does make a difference.

Running 884s with Bilstein 5100s on lowest level and they work great off road. Best on forest roads and very smooth, from what I understand OME shocks are better for slower rock crawling as they get progressively more firm.

Lift height really only matters for larger tire sizes to prevent rubbing

    NOT TRUE
A suspension lift with either a spacer, longer spring, stiffer spring, or increased spring preload simply pushes your wheel further away from the body when not compressed. However, when you go off roading and compress your suspension, it still has the exact same range of travel and will rub the exact same as the stock suspension.

Now, if you're a Mall Crawler, then yes a lift may help fitting your mall crawler tires as you are less likely to ever compress your suspension fully.

I think all opinions are valid, up to each individual’s seat of the pant ride. My last truck was a 85 EFI Toyota so this truck with full OME suspension is a dream. But I do miss the ruggedness of the 85. It was point & shoot off road, but killed my old back

I don’t think that is entirely accurate. Extended travel springs are longer (14-15”) and don’t have as much upward travel due to different compression ratios being less in extended travel because there is more spring to work with. Stock springs are 13”.

I can fit 255/85 r16 (33”) tires with no rubbing at all ever with 2” of lift with a plain jane OME lift, but 5100 set at 1” of lift will rub when compressed or too sharp a turn up a driveway.

Yes they are longer and will be more difficult to compress, but that does not mean that they cannot be compressed, it simply takes more force to compress.

Your example does not prove your point. Your suspension is not as compressed with the lift you have when taking the drive way. Thus, it doesn't rub like it did when it was stock as it does not compress as far. That does not mean you won't hit the same rub point when you compress the suspension far enough when off roading.

I see what you mean. Yes the touch point is the same, but the compression in the extended travel is much more unlikely unless you drive your taco like a trophy truck. I bottomed my stock TRD suspension many times, but never in the OMEs I have in medium weight

Since I want to run progressive front shocks like ADS. Does anyone know if the truck would perform weirdly over terrain if I kept my OME rear setup? I believe OME is either linear or digressive shocks

I dont think you'd have too much of a problem depending on weight in the back. If it does feel weird then at least you'll know then what to do.

I wouldn't spend the money on the rear until I knew I didnt like how it handled.
