Congrats on your purchase. I didn't read the 12 pages before this, but I bought a sport when I would rather have had the OR. I wanted a manual transmission and access cab. The OR doesn't come that way.

I took off the air dam and have been fine. I go off road more than most the ORs in the area. I am normally just trying to get my dirt bike to a place to ride. I leave the extreme offroad to the bike. It does great in the snow and I have passed many stuck vehicles in the mud with ease.

I may change rims and tires to take-offs from the OR when my tires go bad.

Bought a Sport, because I wanted a long bed and the OR didn't have the option (Canada).

Definitely didn't "settle" for a Sport. Drove them both and preferred the Sport feel. And I think it looks way better. Knew I would use 4x4 a bit but not be out every weekend doing extreme stuff. Have been off road a bit and in 4 low a bit. Truck has done great. No regrets or OR envy whatsoever. Glad you are happy with your purchase... I do agree with the poster who touched on the ugliness of the stock rims - I fixed that with new wheels and tires immediately.

HA! Funny you mention that, yesterday was my first time washing the truck after almost a month and it doesn't look much different... it hides dirt so well but it doesn't have that satisfying oooh & aaaahh like black does after a wash

I think they're both comparable trucks, it just depends on what you use them for. I was real with myself and knew that I don't need crawl control or anything like that. I've been driving for a long time and have never needed anything close to that and I'm sure I'll be fine until the next truck/car.

Have you thought about vinyl wrapping your rims? I did the overlay with my sport since I HATED the rims and they actually look pretty good!

Thinking about trading my sport in on an OffRoad.... I have been offered a good deal but it is an automatic. I will be test driving it this week.
After seeing all these posts about automatic issues, how bad is the automatic transmission?

I have an 18 and after 2k miles I have no complaints.

I initially had 800 miles on it and had second thoughts. I wasn’t enjoying the truck. I took a 1200 mile road trip which I assume the truck finished “learning.” When I got back and drove locally again, it was like a whole different truck. I’m not sure if that makes any sense or not but I’m perfectly happy now. No need for the TSB but I still may get the OVTune sometime down the road to change it up.

There are no issues with autos. Only issue is with owners.

My truck’s AT quickly settled in on a few long road trips. The trick is to not let it sit at a high gear too long (lug) like 6th on a flat long piece of highway when your breaking it in. It needs variation in speed and incline to really get everything settled. 21k miles on mine and not an issue yet....I hope o_O

I don't really like the wheels too much, but I can't see them when I am in it. haha. I was considering just powder coating them flat black, but I can powder coat for free. Not sure I would pay anyone to paint them.

If I were to buy new today, I'd wait for an OR as I'd want the locker and the various modes. That being said, I'm not going to upgrade to a new truck to get those things and I'll eventually add a locker to my truck.

I probably wouldn't buy a Sport though as it doesn't really have any options I'd be interested in and I don't think I'd like the shocks it came with. I'd get a SR5 or a SR before a sport.

Except all the tech that I wanted, preferred the look of sport and changed out suspension. I bought a reliable truck to haul stuff, I don’t deliberately off-road. And if I do need a locker, no big deal, I’ll add a proper one
To add, if I were to buy another taco today, I’d still go with sport long bed

I took my SR5 in for the 5k check on Friday. I asked a service assistant manager about putting the skid plate on my truck, and he said it wouldn't work. Then why I asked him why, he said to bring it back when I could leave it for a day to let them look at it and figure out how much it would cost and what all would need to be done.

Minus the reserve tank that's pretty much plan.

He may be correct. The SR5, there isn't a factory mudflap option for them either. You need to go After Market.

Looks like Toyota thinks it will fit. I've found dealers usually don't know shit.
