Shooooooot, its raining like a mofo here now... cant seem to get a break long enough to take the paint off the skids... guess i could just move shit around in the garage and do it in there, but its gonna be dusty af!

word! We are starting a little home gym right now too. Doesnt have much in it for me. I hope to build up to lifting weights and cycling. OT is pretty expensive but I feel its a great way to get a kick start.

This is super sad for me!

aaaaaand its done. Seeing some spots of sun on the ground... this weather is DRUNK!

    Hahahahaha

Some of those machines are like riding a mechanical bull! lolololol

I wish i had a lifting buddy... would be awesome to have some acocuntability and a set schedule. When I lived near Chad, we had this for biking and rode hundreds of miles. Just patiently waiting for him to move to Bee Cave LOL

Agreed chad needs to move closer, it’s nice to have the accountability of a partner but I hate the gyms where I live.

09/16/18 - I started the skids refinishing project. The IFS skid will take a little bit longer due to its size. The trans skid will need some hammering to get it back to flat-ish.

The IFS skid was complete in about 6 hours including the in between coat drying time. I used an Avanti Pro paint and rust removing wheel and just went to town. After a degrease and wipe down, gave it 2-3 coats of primer. I finished it off with 2-3 coats of flat black. This time, its actually black and not dark grey like that rustoleum hammered black ended up to be.

So, that will last until the next time you go deeper than you meant to.

    hahahaha

That last trip to HF resulted in a broken skid. In process of breaking, it bent the shit out of the skid next to it and forced my hand. I am sure I will be doing this all over again in another 12-18 months.

Looking good! Looks so good when its finished off with the BHLM. I am kinda curious to see what TRS comes up with for new headlights but I really enjoy the RX 350 BHLM Retrofit I did. Only a few more things I want to change on them now. I've been putting it off, not wanting to tear them apart again even though it should be much easier this time.

This is exactly what i want too, the rx350 retrofit. Im in no rush currently... the costs of some of the retrofitting services are crazy and so I can wait to see comes out as well.

If you arent too scared its not that hard to do yourself. Just make sure your ovens big enough before hand, our headlights are BIG. I think I spent about $450 on the parts. It was my first time ever but I was cautious and took it slow. Was easy to not to overheat the headlights or burn my house down.

I would have loved help from someone with experience. Youtube videos did enough to get me through, slowly. first hand help would have made it much faster. I've recently seen a seam splitter tool come out to make splitting the headlights much easier and faster with less chance of damage.

Ill have to find that tool eventually. Anything to make it easier with less a chance to scratch or damage something that will be visible is a good tool in my book. Like those plastic trim tools... sure a butter knife would work to pop interior parts, but there is a chance of scratching it all to hell

Here is a first for me... im in the garage using my horrible freight angle grinder. Ive got gloves, ear, eye protection as well as a respirator on. Im getting all the paint, primer and rust off the trans skid and am about 75% done when i notice smoke coming out the grinder. It was a decent amount of smoke... hopefully it will cool down enough to let me finish the skid since Id really love to have it all done by tomorrow.
