Seems the first time I get in for the day, the driver's harness won't pull out. Dealership pulled door panel on my extended cab to check and reported all is well. Anyone else have this issue??

Frankly, I don't even recall if it is or not. It is to shift into R to back from garage.

As a safety feature, the shoulder harness is supposed to lock into place (for lack of a better term) under hard braking. "Hard" is subjective. So if your foot is on the brake, it may be locking the harness. It then releases once the brake is released

Hmmm......... feet the size of mine may very well signal to the system 'hard breaking'. Will be observent next time climbing in. Thanks for the tip. :)

no problem. For me, I often get mine "locked" when I pull out of the driveway too. Doesn't matter which car I'm in lol

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
Stepping on the brake while parked has no effect on the seat belt tension. If the vehicle slows suddenly when the brake is pressed, the inertia mechanism (pendulum) can activate in the seat belt retractor, and it locks.
Sounds like the spring is just getting weak.

For some reason the Toyotas I have observed seem to lock the seat belt when I pull too hard or fast on them when putting them on. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries.

My 2006 access cab does this. The belt locking mechanism is overly sensitive and it's annoying. Let's hope it feels like doing it's job if/when the time comes to save my life.

Apparently this is common in many different Toyota models: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYGcUkNlZrk

If you can’t pull out then just push and pray.
