Hello good afternoon this past weekend i went to Laughlin NV. On my way back on the 40 hwy the there is grade incline for most of the way back i own a 2018 tacoma and on the way back to the 15 hwy i averaged 12 miles to the gallon, is that about right ? The Tacoma felt fat and lazy couldn't find the right gear to maintain the speed of 70 to 75 miles per hr. All i have done to it is switch the wheels to fuel rims with BFG KM3 tires
My stock was 265 65 r17 i changed it to
265 70 r17 please can anyone give me advice or does anyone have the same issue

You are driving a box on wheels. Drive 55, your MPG will improve.

If your rims and tires are heavier than stock that doesn't help with the mpg.

Did a deer fart in your general direction as you drove by? That can put a ding in your gas mileage as well

That KM is a heavy tire. Fat blocks that add to rolling resistance doesn’t help. Going up a climb at those speeds, I’m not surprised you’re getting 12mpg. Now, if you were to average the mpg up AND down, I’d imagine you’d be mid to high teens.

I never really pay attention to the tank average. Just idling my truck in a parking lot for awhile destroys that average terribly! I watch the trip info after I shut it off before I open the door. Seems to give a better reading. But yea those tires will drop it a lot
