My brake pedal has the feel of a mechanical "click" when I depress the pedal towards the end of its travel. I did some digging and found that most of the posts are related to the buzzing sensation of the master cylinder working its magic. My pedal also has the buzzing and the squish sound which don't bother me; however, the click is a little more annoying. Has anyone else experience the same click?

On a separate note, I turned on the adaptive cruise control on the freeway today, and the brake pedal made a high pitch noise. This happened a few times as I tried to pin point the noise. I assumed it was also the master cylinder depressing the pedal for me. Has anyone else experienced this consistently?

    Thank you.

I have felt and heard the clicking when approaching a stop sign on an icy snow covered road while losing traction. That’s the abs system kicking in and doing it’s job to keep you heading straight ahead.

You can also experience the weird sensation of the system if you stop on an incline, remove your foot from the brake, let the vehicle roll backwards a bit and then reapply the brakes. You can feel and hear the loud sound it makes. It’s interesting and a bit more prominent on the Tacoma than I’ve felt and heard on other vehicles.

Thanks for the insight. The click I feel is a single click only each time I press the brake pedal. It feels like some sort a mechanical linkage artifact. I wonder if it could be some sort of piston pressing up against the pedal.

    Hmm. Interesting.
A single click reminds me of the sound of a brake light switch activating by the press of the brake pedal on some vehicles I’ve owned in the past. Some are very noticeable, and can be felt also.

I will have to check that out. I am gonna try depressing the pedal with the truck off to see if that click is the same.

My adaptive cruise control has been flawless.

When you slowly depress the brake, do you feel a pop or click?

No not at all, that’s definitely something I would notice. It feels exactly like it should.

Time to head into the dealer. The click is not there when the car is off. I am pretty certain the click comes from the brake booster kicking in since it always comes just before the buzzing. My pedal is pretty loose. I will see if they can make some sort of adjustment.

Funny! Cause my 2018 Tacoma does the same exactly thing as yours! Lol. But I'm more annoyed by the buzzing, squish then the click. Can we switch brain? Hahaha!

Has anyone found a solution to this? My 2018 has hardly over 200 miles on it and I've begun to notice the click about overy other brake depress. The click seems to happen in about the first 5-15% of the pedal stroke. Definitely feels mechanical.

Mine still does it so I am not sure if there is a fix. This is just my guess, but I think it’s the booster kicking when the pressure is low that causes this.
