Thanks to those who responded. I have no certain confirmation but I believe the issue may be tied to rear shoe adjustment and how it affects pedal pressure required for braking when backing down hill. Since I bought the truck used at ~33k mi last June it's entirely possible that they had not been adjusted and required enougn pedal pressure to trigger the abs system. It was definitely not the pads failing to brake but the abs system interrupting the process but since the 50k service last month at which time they were adjusted, it has not happened again.

I am starting to get the symptoms of TSB-0016-13 REV1, or the thump from behind.
My 2012 has 44k on the clock, but I'm a year late on the 60 month deal.
Anybody had this done out of warranty and roughly for how much?
i have not contacted the dealer yet.

they did mine under warranty but I still had the issue afterwards so I don't know if it is really worth the hassle

Wish it did it last year.
More annoying than anything. Seems like it does it more frequently with hotter temps outside.

Might want to check your center support bearing (bearing may be fine, but the rubber part might be in bad shape). The one on my 2012 had to be replaced last year. I had more miles, but rubber deteriorates with age.

I’ve had this going on in my 2010 Prerunner (79,410 miles) since I got it two years ago. Dealer said it was past the TSB and I’d have to replace the driveshaft - $1,100. Changed the transmission and rear diff fluid last weekend - no more thump.

IT seems to me that my 2012 maint schedule somewhere says to remove and re grease the splines in the drive shaft at intervals?

Anyone know if the TSB for the bubbling daytime running lights has been extended past 2015? I know procrastination to the max

I cannot get the download link to work for the TSB's. There is a download link at the bottom that takes you to a site to download but you cannot download anything there.

I went to the dealer a couple years ago for this on my 2011 and they told me to pound sand.

for all of you that is new like i am, i just bought a 2008 tacoma 4.0 prerunner. i took it to the dealership to run the vin number and to find out any maintenance records of it. it has 100,00 miles on it. Very clean truck. it has one owner and have never been taken to the dealership at all. it has a few recall on it, one of them is complete replacement of the lift spring assembly... so if you need to find out. take it to the dealership.. it's free replacement... lakay taco

Probably because numerous TSBs extended coverage (for the specific items covered) well-beyond the basic warranty period.

i just got my 2008 tacoma 3 weeks ago, have 100,000 miles, took it to dealership where i have my 2016 RAV4 service. they look at my VIN and found out that Taco have few recalls. one of them is the Lift Spring pack replacement, and few more. my 2cents is have them look at your Vehicle VIN, who knows what might comes out.. it might be free just like the 4 recalls i got at no cost to me..
