Just purchased a 2016 TRD Offroad Doublecab Longbed. It came with a spacer lift up front with 1.5” blocks in the rear. Looking for input on lifts. Truck will be mostly street driven with the occasional trail. Will never be bombing it high speed Baja style.
I’ve got it narrowed down to
Bilstein 5100s all around with ome 887s with aal ~ $740
Bilstein 6112/5160 with Dakar leaf packs, medium duty ~ $1525
Fox 2.5 non reservoir front extended length rear 2.0 with Dakar leaf packs ~ 2300

Coming from the Jeep world I was hoping to get some extra articulation, and not just lift. I know the truck isn’t a rock crawler like my jeep, but articulation helps anywhere. I have fox shocks in my jeep and love them, which is why I’m looking at that kit as a possibility. Truck will have 285/75/16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with fuel vector wheels that have 4.5” backspacing. Other than getting more travel, should I even be looking at more than the 5100 setup? With the 6112s and full Dakar packs be a big upgrade? Do these even have more articulation/travel than stock? It’s really hard to find travel and compressed/extended lengths for any of these items. Anything else I’m missing?

Up front you won't see much down travel after your lift unless you go to mid travel coil overs which are a little but not much longer and i believe require upper control arms to allow for the extra travel. when you look at the extended length of the standard coil overs you will see they are very slightly longer than stock, so all most of your travel is up instead of down like on your jeep. for the rear you will want to be looking at the actual extended length of the shocks and go with the longest you can fit into your application under compression, so longer bumpstops may be needed to get a longer shock in there, just like with your jeep. after these basics you are looking at shock relocation in the rear and long travel setups for the front...

The 6112 and 5160 will do just fine for your applications but I’m not sure how much lift you want though as it will only give you 2” max. Invest in some UCAs JBAs, SPCs etc.

If you want more info. Look through this thread.
