Meant to tell you, there was a wreck yesterday on 280 East near Opelika. (Of course when isn't there a wreck on 280) Tiffany said they detoured traffic and it looked like a car tried to offroad up a hill upside down.

For the lazy noobs: What is that?

 

Basically I can sit in the house with that connected to the internet and talk to any internet connected repeater in the world from my HT. I’m just outside of DMR coverage for my local repeater so now I don’t have to go sit in the truck at home on the mobile to talk to everyone.

 

I still don't understand, it looks like digital radio that only goes through the internet?
If you're going through the internet, why not just VoIP?

 

Oh, so you can communicate with it via your Baofeng? I thought I read it required a digital HT as well.
That might be handy to talk to each other over a non-local repeater.

 

My ham radio will work anywhere with this as long as there is internet.

 

I have a DMR radio also. Going to check on using it with analog also. Mine is a Radioddity GD-77 a friend let me use till I get my own.

UV-5R to a remote internet connected repeater so we could all talk via ham (even listen in on rides), that might be cool. Other than that, it seems like the main selling point of digital radio is "talk to people all over the world without ham extra license". I basically grew up on ventrilo and teamspeak talking to people all over the world while playing video games though. It's not exactly ground-breaking tech. I've had a headset and internet connection for as long as I can remember My phone/computer gets my voice out when there's internet, radio gets it out when there isn't. Internet radio hardly fits, for me anyway.

This weeks project complete. Wood bench for the dining room table. First time building something this finished (usually my wood projects are rustic and have a rough look). Pretty pleased with how the frame around the top came out. Gotta change out the sliders for black ones..only had white on me at the time.

That table looks awesome, but can someone please tell me what's going on in that first picture? Why does everything looks like it's mini-sized? Or is it just me?

 

I only built a bench to go with a table I already had lol.

 

Yeah, maybe I'm trying to imagine the bench as a small table. At first glance though, I was pretty sure you had a mini lawnmower in the background, and really cute set of mini tools laying nearby too.

I'm loving the finish on that bench though!
