Got my 10k service done at Tansky's in Zanesville. They flashed my ECU with 0058-18 with no questions asked. This was only my second service with them, but they have treated me well.

@mwc273 I forget who you were taking to about your MURS radios at the Gorge, was it @presta24 or @Jibbs

They may be tough to find for sale now, or shortly:

They haven't specified the models, but yes I believe those would fall in the list. They can easily transmit on freqs normally locked, or reserved for Gov organizations, and they can also transmit at too high of a power for a lot of frequencies. e.g. transmitting 5w on FRS freqs.

Most likely so. And our other cheap ones we picked up for $22 after an obscure coupon that routed back to Amazon's site lol

I'm just glad you know how to "flash" them so us, civilians, stay off the channels we shouldn't be on, but still have a better means over CB to comm on the trails

@mwc273 how does the UV-50X3 compare to the TYT TH-9800? I was thinking about getting the 9800, but had not heard of the 50x3 before. Not sure if the 9800 will get banned or not.

True, I think it's still somewhat open though.

I've compared the Yaesu 9800 vs the TYT 9800 and I don't think Yaesu will tx on MURS, or GMRS without modifying it. The TYT appears to tx without a mod....which makes me think this could fall in the list, given it may be easy for someone to transmit over power on the FRS/GMRS freqs.

Wow, that mod is easier to do than other mods I've done.

But if you want to save $100 it looks like the TYT tx range is supposed to be: 26.000-33.000MHz, 47.000-54.000MHz. 134.000-174.000MHz, 400.000-480.000MHz out of the box.

Does it really matter if the radio itself is bant? Not if you have your operators license, I would think. And staying away from the big brother freqs

Speaking of, going to contact the Museum of Radio and Technology to see if they still offer HAM classes to get mine. Be cool to hit repeaters and talk to other folks.

People have tested transmitting on CB and it does it....but it's range is only a few feet. I thin it'll receive OK though.

Got a WW II era crystal set that belonged to my dad. Last time it was lit up was 25 years ago. It took 45 minutes to warm up enough to use. Weighs about 50lbs.

    RCA brand.

Can barely remember the behemoth that was the old record player/radio we had around form my dad's parents. Back when furniture was made to last generations, for sure!
I'd imagine it's every bit of 100 years old if not more. Worked last I know, think mom sold it when I was still a teenager. Just too damn big to screw with, no matter how nice it was to have.

Now, I flip a couple toggles and strum for about 10 minutes and let the natural overdrive take the wheel :headbang::rockband:. A matched pair of NOS Sylvania 12AX7s and pair of 6V6GTs run in my Ibanez TSA15H
