I too am interested in this. New to the Tacoma game and was about to place an order when I stumbled on the discussions about them going out of business - glad I waited!

LOL nope! Aluminium is good for hitting road kill and that's about it. 90% of our skid customers are replacing another aftermarket set that didn't' hold up to the abuse.

We build the strongest skids in the industry so when you guys are ready for your second set you know where to go.

@Mobtown Offroad What size roadkill are your aluminum skids rated to?

I’m looking for aluminum options as well, just to protect against the unexpected.

Weighing your truck down with all the steel armour you can buy on TW doesn’t make any sense for my personal uses (backcountry travel). Having a light-footed vehicle will sometimes take you farther, with less damage, than driving a Tacoma wrapped in tank armour.

All that extra weight of steel armour translates into greater forces on all the stock running gear parts and can get you bogged to the axles when you might otherwise keep moving. Range is limited due to the weight of steel armour, so you have to carry extra fuel, which makes your truck heavier still, and so on.

Aluminum armour has value for certain people, like myself.

They’ll survive fire roads and light wheeling but not much more than that.

Honestly, that's 99.9% of what all Tacoma owners need, myself included. Basic protection from logs and loose rocks (cobble and boulder) on logging roads. I'm not rock crawling in my DD.

I just get tired of the implication on TW that if you don't have 2" steel armor to protect against landmines, you might as well have tin foil... just not true.

I'd be stoked if you or one of your counterparts would make aluminum skids that play nice with the Pro factory aluminum skid.

Awesome! If the pricing is in line with your current skids, I'll for sure be a customer.

I have full steel skids front to back. A ton of weight. Removed it all. For the majority of my wheeling the heavy armor, it's just not necessary. Bought the TRD pro front skid. Love it. And now also looking for more aluminum. Good enough for the Girls I go with. ;) If I'm going rock bashing I will then reinstall the heavy shit.

Why not just buy our aluminum front skid too? It has a high road kill rating than the Pro skid and I think it's cheaper.

Ours is less expensive and thicker material but I’ve learned people like the looks of the PRO skid more. I get it, it’s attractive for sure.

I’d buy one as well! :spending:

Can you just copy the PelfreyBilt one? I don’t think they’d mind.

I got the TRD Pro skid for the screaming price of $250 and long before I knew about your affordable aluminum skids.

And yes, I like the looks of the Pro skid, especially with my color scheme.
