Currently left the Tacoma game for about two years and ended up in an ole Ford. Really been wanting to get back into it all again, but trying to weigh my options. Pretty bias group of people I'm asking but shit on it, what do you guys think? :turtleride:

Yeah, I’m a ford guy but don’t have a need for a full size and I don’t like the looks of the ranger

Personally, I'd prefer the Tacoma, just because the new 'tactical' colors are sick.

Nothing serious... few issues with the panoramic roof, the aluminum body is quite noisy on the road, and the biggest problem is the tacoma sitting at the dealership next door to my house

Bought mine with 6 miles and had it in the shop today for transmission update. Now dealing with some vibration, a little hum from the rear, and not quite sure whats up with the transmission feeling like its looking for gears still.
Im about 10 web pages open doing research for answers now.

    Just my .02c

That's the thing with the Tacomas, unusual colors and a ton of mods available.

No kidding? Only thing I'm afraid of is getting another Tacoma and turning my fun project into a money pit. I'm guessing your experience too far hasn't been the greatest neither.

Some seem to be common. Luckily most are covered under warranty. Love the truck no less. Just hoping this little issues get taken care of. Im not looking to get rid of it. Still want to do upgrades and make it my own.

If you do...(Had a bud who owned your truck pre-aluminum) and it was a rough ride. If you do buy a Tacoma again get what you want out the door on the RIG so it does not become a money pit other than new tires down the road. I'm very happy with mine, (TRD OR rides like a Buick on pavement, very smooth) picked it up end of July and have wanted a Tacoma for many years (even while owning a Tundra).

    Front end howl
    Rear end howl
    2 Transmission TSB's
    Leaky rear diff
    AC blower service campaign
    low RPM stutter or miss
    Driverside door sill rust
And some other shit i'm forgetting.

My truck is pretty close to perfect now. It's just been a lot of work to get here. I have been very lucky that the TSB's have fixed all the major issues I have had ( miss not included). I am due to get the rust addressed next month, but expect no problems as it has already been approved to do.

Bottom line is educate yourself and excersize your options. After all the crap my new truck has given me, it is almost where I want it. This is my second Toyota (08 FJ) and this is the better of the 2 by a wide margin haha... so sad

Glad to hear that man. Yeah I'm thinking of just either King or Fox (preferably the TRD PRO) shocks, tires, rims, BHLM, etc. nothing crazy or wild you know

Geez and how long you had yours for now? I've always loved Toyotas but they always seem to have something pop up every now and then so I definitely know the feeling

8C6C8A04-5554-43D0-84D5-9C235507766B.jpg I was in the same delima. Had a 17 platinum, was tired of payments and didn’t treat it like a truck. Way happier with my 2017 trd sport and going from 6 year loan to 4 years! Only thing I miss is the seat massages....

I picked it up late December of '16. Other than the low RPM miss which is fixed by running premium (I had 2 turbo cars before my truck so that doesn't bother me) and the rust, it's pretty good now.
