    For AC power supply, amps are equal to watts divided by power factor times volts. amps = watts / (PF × volts)
    For resistive load without inductors or capacitors, the power factor is equal to 1:
    amps = 500W / (1 × 120V) = 4.167A.

    Your car battery can only handle so much power. 400w inverter can drain the battery in two hours and only run at about 70% efficiency. So the higher wattage product your using of coarse uses more amps. Now minus 30% round about depending of age on battery and actual efficiency of the inverter. So therefore shit may not run correctly even at 400w.

    Yeah I saw my last post and it wasn’t clean And I was being facetious. Backlash becometh I taketh.

    Start by pushing down the chrome ring on the shifter, then twist the shifter knob to unscrew and remove

    0B4186B2-4175-4206-8ECA-87683335729B.jpg Nice write up. I followed it and worked great. I removed the factory 12v charger from the center console and installed an outlet/usb combo inside the center console. I also installed a double USB (always on) port in the back for the kids. I wanted a usb port that was alway on even when the truck was off just incase i needs to charge my phone.

    Looks good! Gonna tackle this mod next! Is that this grommet plug? Or a similar 2-2.5” plug?

    Thanks! I did this write up over a year ago but it just started getting views. Happy to see it’s helping other people, that’s what TW is all about.

    Hey I’m really curious, where did you run the 12v from for your USB port to be always on?

    Right behind the drivers kick panel there is a wire harness that is not used. The blue 10awg wire is constant hot so i tapped off that. I have no idea what that harness is for so I bought a USB charger that came with an in-line fuse just to be safe.

    Does anyone know how to get around this? I run an ARB fridge off the bed plug and it seems to lose power every once in a while driving but can be reset by putting the the truck in P or N and hitting the power button again. I'd love to not have to do this reset again and again on a long trip.

    From the manual p. 415 -- The protection circuit may be activated to cut the power supply if any of the following conditions apply: Electrical appliances, which consume power exceeding 100 W, have been used continuously for a long time period.

    Maybe try the 400w anytime mod and see if that works?

    Subd I spend a lot of time in my truck for work with a laptop and sometimes have to charge it in the bed if it gets low on battery. would be nice for sure to just have one already inside the truck.

    I installed one of these last night. Put it in the cubby box next to the 12v outlet. There was a few reasons for that location. One, it looks clean and OEM, two, if I messed up the hole no one would be able to see it. The hole turned out perfectly though, and the outlet has a rim that covers the edge of the hole anyway.

    I'm not so sure about the quality of this made-in-China Ford part. Interestingly the ground hole isn't wired to anything. It's an open ground by design. I'm not too worried about that because if I'm not mistaken, it's impossible for any vehicle to have a true earth ground. Grounding to the vehicle chassis probably has minimal benefit.

    Also, the green LED serves no purpose so I didn't hook it up. It requires a 12v + and -. It does not indicate 120VAC power in any way.

    This may get swapped one out for the Toyota 4Runner plug eventually. The Toyota one appears to be higher quality. But for now this is serving its purpose so we'll see.

    Oh, and thanks for the write-up :cheers:
