I do have it on my TODO list to point out in these fog threads, these lights are very bright and should not be used as ‘aux driving lights’. They should only be used when needed.

Well, that's the point. To have a tool on the truck. Not a fashion or lighting accessory.

We intend to travel with the truck when the weather is Hella bad... Else use the car; the fuel mileage is too horrid otherwise for our multi thousand km trips. But that's what happens when you are used to 40-50mpg in Diesel's and a Serial-ish Hybrid - Tacoma mileage is scary-bad.

So is the best headlight harness to be had through Headlightservices and a fog light harness from Rally Lights?

IMG_20180913_123851.jpg Well I just got the headlight harness from Headlights services, and it is ridiculously good quality. It was also less than the other premium options. So I can whole heartedly endorse it's purchase!!! It is damn good!

I just haven't had a chance to put it in yet. Too busy with this.

See right now, I am enjoying some NY state cider in some forest, at a primitive camping spot with my new RTT:
    IMG_20180917_091234.jpg

The fire is a nice touch... Regardless of the LED light bars, and upgraded Uber headlights... just burning wood and cider... Very nice.

Headlight Services is the recommended headlight harness. You can contact them to see about building a foglight harness, I think they may do them in 14 AWG but not list them on their site. Tell Mike (at Headlighht Services) you saw it on TacomaWorld. Rallylights builds the fog harness in 12 AWG, but has said that is a very difficult size wire to use for the connectors.

    10-4 thanks.

As long as I can get a plug-n-play harness for the Flosser H11 90W 12110s I am golden.

My base 2015 doesn't have factory fogs and I haven't installed my Hella harness yet. I may need to install it as I realize the upgraded harness isn't going nor does it need to be wired all the way into the cab to the switch.

Do you have any experience with the Nokya bulbs? They are readily available and might be a decent stock harness choice...

    Indeed, thanks.

    F'in noobs... D'oh!

(In my defense, none of those posts describe crash's direct experience with them as far as I can tell; that's what I was asking about, because I trust his judgement re: quality, etc. ;) )

I do not have any direct experience with Nokya bulbs. I did by a Nokya headlight harness for my experimenting putting together this mod:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-h10-to-9011-hir-foglight-upgrade-better-than-led.528143/

But the harness was terrible quality and I didn't use it but I don't think that is indicative of their bulbs quality. Their market segment has typically been overly coated blue bulbs but they do have some non-coated options.

However, the German glare-capped Volsa H9s will be quiet a bit brighter with better focus while also being lower wattage, though they will have shorter bulb life and you do need to trim the bulb to fit.

Thanks. I don't mind modding the bulb, but since Daniel Stern apparently won't sell us the Volsa H9s, is there another source you know of?

He is concerned that people don't know how to use their lights. To many people use their fogs as aux driving lights which hurts your distance vision, especially with ridiculously powerful lights. And while the light projection pattern is maintained, the fog reflector itself gets extremely bright. You can DIY them like I did in the thread linked above. Though you will want to wait a couple weeks between painting and install to let the paint complete the off gassing. I've looked into buying the proper coating to make them but so far I have not found it in non-commercial sized batches.

Yeah I fully understand his reasons. I use my fogs properly; I live in the North and good fogs are life savers in a white out blizzard.

Oooh, the DIY option is very interesting. I hadn't read that thread because my truck is a 2012. Is there a specific H9 bulb you'd recommend for this?

Use a high quality German made bulb, like Osram, Sylvania, Philips or Volsa.

Edit: also consider the foglight anytime mod so you turn off the headlights in those conditions and run with just the fogs.

Definitely. I generally do all "anytime" mods. Rear camera, fogs, DRLs, electric lockers, etc. I modded my old FJ40 so I can shift it into 2 Lo. :)

Edit: Philips are often made in China now. :(
