LED Lighting Conversion

Pulled the trigger on these for the low beams and damn they really step up the night sight. Decided to swap the fogs and reverse lights too. Report back after the weather starts up.

 

The LED KIT as far as color what would u rate it at 5500 or 6500. Trying 2 Match the DRL lights

 

They say 6k white. Haven't received yet.

 

I picked a new led bulb/ dome light the other day (they were fresh out of map lights)

I go to put it in and it’s too big. And I was trying to force it, but the prongs were fully bent back and nada. So I guess I need to try a 30mm sized

 

Did you try both ways they are positive and negative

 

The light not working wasn’t the problem, I mean they were physically too big/long. The done light has to 2 “prongs” the prongs have circle cutouts to House the bulb. With these prongs fully bent past normal position I still couldn’t get the ends to the circle “housing”. It was loop sided.

It was the Sylvania zevo. I’m going to try the Philips vision instead (it’s a 30mm) maybe that will be enough

 

Also converting to LED. Bought 30mm bulbs from superbrightled.com... a touch too small. Bought 31mm from Amazon.. a touch too big.... so I’m left scratching my head. I’ve left the 30mm in and it often loses contact, but I don’t really notice as the map lights are powerful.
I’m hoping someone has this one figured out.

 

The dome light contacts on the 3rd gen are expandable. It's a tension fit. The 31mm should work.

 

Joined TW specifically to ask this question. I did some digging before posting and didn't find any information that could help me figure out what kind of light that is. I'd rather not pull my entire console apart just to find out.

Did you, or anyone else, find out what kind of bulb it is?

Welcome to the forum. Most of these switches have proprietary LEDs built in and may not be customizable. I know for a fact the CH4x4 switches you can buy are like that. You select the color when ordering.

That's not to say it can't be done however.

 

Hmmmm, well you can always ask an expert. Hey @mesojdm, what size bulb goes in the 3rd Gen dome socket?

 

I think the are talking about the light near the qi charger, not the dome. Follow the posts backwards.

 

Not the dome light, I already know what kind of bulb that is. I'm talking about the little light that is in the cubby hole where the QI charger is, right in front of the shifter. It's a soft white light, I'm hoping to change it to red.

 

What about just putting a red film over it? Unless you need it bright, might be the best bang for the buck. Can't see the light directly either, so can be a little sloppy if you have to.

It must of been Friday when they made my bulb or dome light lmao.

I had it fully extended but it wouldn’t seat properly. I’m getting a 30mm today so hopefully that does the trick

 

Yea, I had a hard time when I changed over to the Meso version but made it work nonetheless.

Maybe it is 30.5 mm
