    Anyone have a source on a driveshaft? I am aware that you can get one re-tubbed at a driveline shop but figured a spare isn’t a bad option and I can get my truck functioning again.

    You can drive around in 4WD on the front, just don't make any quick maneuvers. Things get weird when you do......

    Any drive shaft from a 2nd gen can be used as a spare, you will need to have it retubed to match your trucks driveline/ body trim, they all use the same yokes, slip joint, ujoints, they just have different tube lengths. If you can get a good deal on one that doesn't match your specific lengths you might come out cheaper with a retube than buying one that does match.

    Drive shaft shops should have a relatively quick turn around, 1 shop I went to had a 1 week turn around, another finished them in around 3 days, it'll depend on their work load.

    You'll have to call around junk yards to find someone that has a driveshaft. I used to use a website that aggregated the parts in my local junk yards and could find things easily, but the website went down recently. You may have a website for SD junkyards that might help finding one.

    I have the rear tail section from a gen 1 tundra, but that won't help you. It would have to be completely reworked. Look on car-part.com and you can find a used full rear shaft as a spare. Most driveline shops can use a thicker wall tube to handle rock bashing a bit better.

    After I did my 4WD conversion, I drove in 4HI FWD for two weeks while I had my old driveshaft shortened.

    Drives almost exactly the same, just handles a little differently.
