    Hi all,

Was hoping my first post on here would be about some cool mod I'm working on, but here I am asking about potential issues. And before I get any hate, please know that I have never worked on cars/trucks so this question may sound stupid. I'm asking so I am prepared before taking a trip down to the dealer.

That being said, I had read about the issue regarding people getting rust on the frame due to the A/C drain so I decided to do the mod. When I was under the truck I noticed what seemed to be a gash along with some surface rust.I have attached a picture for reference. Has any one experienced/seen this before? Is this normal? I have attached a picture for reference.

    For some background info:
    • I just bought the truck during the first week of September.
    • It's a 2018 dclb or in cement gray.
    • I live in Northern California in a city where it does not snow and has not rained in months.
    • I have only taken the truck to and from my 9-5 desk job.
    Any guidance is appreciated.

That “gash” looks like an indentation from the factory. Too clean to have hit something on the road. And that leak....did you have your a/c running right before you noticed it?

Looks like trail damage or someone intentionally did that to drain/route a/c. Wouldn’t think factory but I’ll crawl under mine for ya when I get home.

The steel is stamped that way during manufacturing of the frame.

I had started the truck just to turn the steering wheel but the a/c was not on when I started it.

the "gash" I don't have anything to speak of on that except it certainly does not look like a "hit" incident it is too neat and even of a hole I will go look at my truck and see if I spot anything like that, as for the water and rust in that area it could be from the condensate drain tube for the Air Con, There is a Great Thread here on TW where members have changed or modified the drain so it does not run out on the the frame that is a Mod that should be done for sure.

I appreciate the insight. I was working on doing that mod before I noticed the "gash" and leak despite my A/C not being on.

Well you can Relax now concerning the "Gash" My 2018 Pro has the same thing on both sides .... Blast not as neatly done as your so now I am disappointed:annoyed: and the Air Con Drain tube is just above to the front a little bit.
