Was going to get rustproofing done in a couple weeks, but wanted to take a trip around the coastal Route 1 route in Maine this week. Wondering if the drive along the coast is going to get a lot of salt all up in my truck, and reduce the effectiveness of the rustproofing. In that case I would try to get the rustcoating done prior to the trip. Thoughts?

I don't think one drive would have any impact.

I reside in Maine. No issues at all (aside the road salt in winter but we have prevention for that) as far as doing Coastal Rt1, you'll be completely fine. As above, sprinkler underneath for a bit, or a self wash and blast it (shouldn't need to, but it's peace of mind) just don't be going to Bar Harbor and trudging across the sand bar, that's guaranteed salty unhappiness all over the underside.

It can only mess your truck, mostly it’s electronics but later it’s metal, if you are driving on the beach partly in the water. Thats why melting snow + salt on roads is bad for any car too. A dry road or rain on road wont hurt it.

Enjoy the fall colors, they’re beautiful!
