The last (and only time) I’ve been inside that factory, they were building GM G Bodies (rear wheel drive Malibu, Cutlass, LeMans etc). There’s a lot of history there. At least it’s still building cars, unlike the Ford plant down the road in Milpitas which is now a shopping mall.

The little bit I know is fascinating. I heard a thing on NPR awhile ago about it and did a little reading. Super interesting.

It sounds like Tesla factory tours aren't easy unless you're an owner or VIP of some sort. That would super cool to see how everything is done there.

Not much to see in a Tesla plant.
On the right side they build the cars and on the left side they build the kitchen blenders, coffee grinders, juicers and mixers. Parts as motors and controllers are interchangeable between cars and household appliances and both get the same power source. Electrical outlet. I heard that juicers and mixers will get a diesel motor for next year.

No way someone earning 60 Peso/hr is going to give you the same quality as an American worker earning 4X more. Not that I am against non-americans, just going by my experience in Juarez.

My 3rd gen is a Texas truck which is cool. Build date says 8/18, must have been one of the last 18's built?

Managed construction of two plants on the Mexican side of the border. The sewage system, if you could call it that, could not handle the paper. It stopped it up. Hence the covered waste cans in the toilet to dispose of the paper. I’ve been in worst places.

I would definitely think your truck was near the end of the production run, 2019s are just starting to arrive at some dealerships

This is my whole point here. If you can't design a sewer system, what do you expect from an assembly plant. Made in USA is my motto.

The GTI that I traded last weekend for my Tacoma was made in Mexico. It seemed like a quality product and I had no issues with it. That said I was happy to see Made in Texas on the Tacoma. I don't mind employing Mexicans at all, but prefer to employ Americans (even Texans) when possible.
