I purchased my tacoma 4 months ago after years of owning and wheeling jeeps. This past weekend I got to see how the tacoma would do on real purpose built trails.

A group of us went to Beasley knob ohv. A locked xj on 35's, a tj rubicon on 37's, a built Comanche on 40's and tons, and my trd off road on 35's. The tacoma lacks the front suspension travel that all these straight axle jeep have. Thats really the only negative take away.

Everyone including my self were dumbfounded at how well this thing did! Allot of it comes down to the driver and I have plenty of seat seat time to know how to handle a 4x4 offroad. The tacome preformed better than the xj and more comperable to the rubicon tj.

We all need to plan a trip up there and wheel together!

My jeep buddies always try to get me to go to Beasley with them. Wish that college didn’t take up all my time uhg.

If you don't have a off-road you better have a winch. There are 3 spots you won't get up without lockers.

I just ordered the last big components to my audio setup, and locker and gears is next on the list. My buds can yank me out anyways lol.

    Here’s a list:

    Audio setup

-12 inch skar audio 500w RMS
-skar audio mono amp 750w RMS
    -run at 1 ohm
    -8 gauge OFC
-ported sub box replacing single seat
    -bass adjustment knob

-skar audio 6x9 coaxial speakers 120w RMS per speaker (front)
-skar audio 6.5 coaxial speakers 100w RMS per speaker (rear)
-Skar Audio 4 channel amp 1200w RMS (150w per speaker on 4ohms)
-Pyle 5 (probably 3) farad capacitor
    -4 gauge OFC
    -mounting adapters

The top portion is what I have already done and the bottom is what is being delivered right now. Here’s a picture of the sub setup. (Amp is in the cubby below)

Is Beasley worth a trip if you're not running 33's or bigger? I've got a TRDOR and sliders. Is it doable or would you recommend skids too?

As the trails stand right now there are 3 spots that without lockers and 35's or larger would be impossible. This was my first trip there so i can not speak to how they have been in the past or how often crews are out there doing trail maintenance. there are no bypass's and the trails are skinny and steep. if you come to an obstacle you can not get over you will have to turn around. the trouble is rock ledges that are just the right size to overcome a 35" tire. you have to bump them hard and use your skinny pedal.

lets plan a trip!! as long as someone is in front of you, you can easily be pulled up these few roughs spots.

I used the relay method. I wasn't a fan of having the truck think it's in 4 low all the time. It's great. 2wd locked will get you lots of places.

the relay bypasses the 4x4 ecu and lets you take 100% control over the locker. everything else works like normal. no strange dash lights or anything like that. need the locker? simply push the button.

if you do not read the wiring diagram correctly there is risk of damaging your locker actuator, locker button, 4wd ecu, etc, etc. and burning your truck to the ground!!
