I like that site because there is some really good information contained therein, but there are waaaaaay too many self-described experts and personalities to take seriously the information that is spouted as gospel.

Valid points on the additive packages good sir. Forgot to add that part in. But FYI, I am also using the cheapest M1 oil in the Tacoma, just in a 0W-30 weight, as it is more than sufficient for my OCI. When my boys ask me what to put in their vehicles, I just tell them grab the M1, Pennzoil Platium, or Rotella synth that's available/cheapest, and you'll be just fine.

I've spent more time trying to find the "best" oil for my bike as well and have tried all kinds of different oils. I came back to M1 in a 0W-40 weight, to ensure that there are no friction modifiers in it. Like chain maintenance on the bike, I am back to basics, naptha to clean, then a coat of WD40 for rust preventative. My current chain has over 30k on it. I tried several of the specific chain cleaners/lubes/waxes, decided cost wasn't worth it.

    Wuss.

    Not them...

(It also depends on what capacity you're in when getting the information.)

    For what?

The physical properties of the two are completely different. One is a solvent and the other is a hydrocarbon.

    -edit-

For a little more clarity, one is a aromatic hydrocarbon and the other is a hydrocarbon.

Don't forget, Wju's version of chain cleaning involves a hydrocarbon and a match.
