887 Remington

Just wondering if anyone has shot one yet? Thinking about picking on up or should I go with the 870?

 

I was talking to a dealer the other day and heard nothing but good things about it. People told him it is a new and improved 870.

 

How does it feel to shoot one of those!?!? With the Sps system on it!?!?

 

I think I might go and buy the 887 tomorrow!!
A buddy of mine knows alot about those shot guns soo he's coming with me!! I will let you know

 

The 887 is designed for 3 1/2 inch shells. One thing that duck hunters might appreciate about the 887 is that it is supposed to be more rust resistant than the 870. That said, my 870 express is chambered for 3 1/2 inch shells and is parkerized and pretty rust resistant too. I've shot 870s for nearly for nearly forty years and have no complaints about them. I've stepped into holes and dunked my Wingmaster into the water, gotten it covered with mud and sand, and all the maintenance it ever needs is a hose down and a spray with WD-40 -- and that's the old blued one with the wood stock. However, if you want to spend an extra hundred bucks for a specialty waterproof duck gun then go for it -- that's what keeps companies in business.

 

Woohoo!!! I bought it!!!! 10 days I will be taking home the 887 nitro mag!!!!!

Just got it home and put it together!!

 

Soo I shot it today, finally!!
I LOVED IT!!!!!

1) 12 gauge 2 3/4 shells. Really, basically no Recoil what's sooo ever

2) 3 inch shells. Basically half the recoil as my buddy's 870 express!!

Only drawback. Bolt release. If you aren't careful, you will pinch your finger!! Did it three times!!!

 

Oh as for the 3 1/2 shells, I am not sure how they shoot because I couldn't find a box of them anywhere!! As soon as I get my hands on them; I will let you know

 

The release is the only thing I don't like about the 887, I almost picked on up earlier this year but after that I decided I would just stick with mu 870, be safe with it and if it flies it dies!

 

I have an 1100 and hitting the bolt release is scary every time! haha
