Hiya folks! So picked this guy up for $200 the other day:
    IMG_20180906_122102.jpg

The super discount was due to a number of factors largely however because it didn't come with brackets, the push pads, or lights, nothing but the main steel hunk but I thought HEY! I was planning on building my own bumper and I can't even get the steel for $200 let alone the consumables costs of cutting and welding so why not.

After researching it seems all winch plates and plate bumpers (the arb above included) mount to the four (six?) existing aluminum crash bar bolts and horn plates behind the exterior body bumper cover.

I know on 1st gen Taco's the frame horns were typically cut off, the frame horns boxed and beefed up, and new larger (1/4") flat plates installed to create a solid mount for the bumpers, it seems this isn't needed for the 2nd gens?

TLDR: Concerned stock bumper mounts seem wimpy.

Also if @Timbo's Customs @allenfab have any advice or insight on what kind of triangle box thing to build to mount the ARB to it would be highly appreciated, I'll bring ya some beer to the fall camp and ride, I'm hoping to have this thing on before then.

@Taco No Baka Just out of curiosity, did Todd end up cutting your horns off and beefing up the frame ends when y'all built your bumper?

Find the mounts and make a replica. Only thing I’m doing before citrus is welding on a set of sliders I didn’t make it to this past Sunday. I’m beat

No, we just welded a piece of rectangular tube to the ends of the frame and then plated the ob sides to tie it in for more strength.

I bought my bumper (Summit bar for a 2018 DCSB) used as well. The guy I bought it from I believe was missing a bolt or two when he got it so ARB sent him a whole new hardware kit. I have the bag of nuts and bolts sitting in my garage. I'm not sure how much of it would apply to your install, but you can have the whole bag (a lot) if you want for the price of shipping. Let me know.
