4.0L SuperCharger

If you want more Horsepower and Torque buy a Full size truck.

 

What fun is that?? Why not have a Tacoma with more HP and TQ than a full size truck?

I think it's worth it. Have the power and torque of a full size in a truck that weighs 1500lbs less. Makes for a fun daily driver

 

Only person that told me my supercharged truck was a waste of money drove a prius.

 

Then start over and do the same? It is always relative to the platform you are in. Otherwise we would all be blissfully ignorant with the same vehicle. Like a Lada.

But then again, you have a 3rd Gen, and are probably suffering from your insufficient power problems.....

 

People with no supercharger will say they want one.

People with a supercharger will never say they don't want one.

 

This thing has the power of a full size without the extra 1500lbs of a full size and the additional real estate space a full size requires. If you ask me, that is a huge win on all fronts.

 

Clearly they spanked you a little too hard with the belt when you were a kid.

 

I questioned the value of one before finally getting mine.
The fact is the supercharger is only half the cost. Once you get engine management, intake, exhaust, pulley, fuel pump...it really gets up there.
After a couple years of boosting I can say that yes, it is 100% worth it. It's on my daily driver so I get to enjoy it every day.

 

Did you upgrade your clutch since you have a 6spd? Or how long has your stock one held up?

 

Long story short; I added the URD stage 2 along with the throw out bearing sleeve kit.
After ~1000mi the clutch failed. Unfortunately it was on the lift at the dealership and I had to get it back together. So now I still have a squealing T.O.B. and a factory clutch.
Stock power for ~20k mi. and the same with boost. 2.825 pulley... 7-8 lbs.

It'll burn if I dump it but has held surprisingly well so far.

 

Damn thats surprising. Ive found it to be hit and miss as far as how long the clutch lasts. Ive got a 2.8 pulley on mine, headers, ypipe, full exhaust and about 5k miles on my stock clutch. No problems yet, but i dont dump it ever.. i typically always let the clutch be fully released before i hit the gas. I wanna try to make it last as long as possible before i need to replace it. I do have a stage 3 and lightweight flywheel waiting whenever it starts to go out though

 

I'm so happy I bought a Taco with the SC already installed. I only get 13.5 mpg, but I figure that's the price to pay for the extra fun.

 

Smiles per gallon = most important

 

Funny how I enjoy it now as an adult, too.
