What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

My LC tires each have something in the tread. They don't leak so I've just been leaving it. All of my Michelin tires have been magnets for road hazards haha, but they never leak when something gets in them. Those tires you have look pretty tired tho anyway

Went and got my truck aligned last week after letting the new coils set a little. I haven’t been satisfied with the play in the steering even after redoing everything under the front end, but after doing some reading I had the shop set my caster to around 3...think it came out to about 3.4 and 3.6. After doing a 8 hour round trip, I could certainly tell a difference in the steering. The steering didn’t feel as loose, nor did the truck wonder on the road near as bad.

Also replaced the rack guide today. The guide was already the newer style, but I figured it wouldn’t turn to replace (already have the tack weld mod). Took it for a short ride, and while I still have a little play before anything happens, I can certainly tell a difference. I torqued it to 18 ft/lbs but did not back it off 19 degrees to a quarter turn....thought I may drive it as is for a short period of time before backing a quarter turn just to see if there is a big difference.

 

Yup, when I replaced my guide I knew I already had the new one also. My original guide didn't look worn at all. I think I could have just been fine replacing the spring or just readjusting preload. That's what I'll do next time. This fixed 2/3 of my steering wheel play & the other 1/3 was the tack weld mod.

Spent some time working on the dual battery set up. Started fabricating a mount for my RTMR fuse block.


Need to get an 80A breaker to mount on the panel and cut the hole before I paint and finish mounting the panel. The breaker will be mounted something like this one.

Took the wip out today. Any body know there shit on auto transmissions ? I Got a questions!

 

I'm running them with Icon UCAs. What kind of concerns did you have? When you weld on the gussets, as per the instructions, you remove the outer washers & install the sleeves with just the inner washers to get the spacing correct. Not sure if the overall spacing varies much between TC, Icon, SPC, or other UCAs. I hope that my Icon UCAs aren't very different than TCs, otherwise I may have issues if I ever decide to go LT.
