Do you know about what your RPMs are at 65 mph? The Crawlpedia calculator said about 2287 with 4.88/33s, 2045 with stock gears/tires.

@2BeersPlease During major holidays they run 10% off deals. I think during black Friday its even higher. Check their website day or so before next major holiday.

I used the rear end shop in riverbank I believe the same family owns it. I had them put in my locker. Quoted me a good price and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them.

That 3rd gen yes fugly as fuck! Oh, you meant the dark camper shell on white. :D

It looks odd but it will work. Can always have it painted.

@CrashN'Burn is in a second gen. Not comparable to first gen

I wouldn't. The rtt and bed bars are worth way more than a used shell

Sell and buy a new or used shell if you're confident that's the direction you want to go

The shell is carpeted and comes with frontrunner racks. Aren’t third gen shells yielding at least 1200 right now? And the frontrunner another 600+?

Oh, not sure about that one. I was told by campways that I could get a brand new shell for 1300 -carpeted, pet screens, etc

Got my used one for 500. Spent about 300-400 to get it where it is now

Why are you getting rid of the RTT/rack combo so soon?

Cameron summed it up basically. But to be honest a shell was my ideal route from the get go but then stumbled across my setup.

I like the simplicity of shell camping vs RTT. There’s nothing wrong with my setup now but long term I think I would like the shell. Although car parts never really “make” money I would think I’d cut my losses when I resell the shell vs a smittybilt tent and an RCI rack

#wifey and I are perfectly content with the space in our RTT, and have zero plans on changing it up anyone soon. I just know that @roguegs had just picked up that current setup, and was confused.

i love the tepui and size, i just wish it wasnt a giant brick on the roof. If it was a truck instead of SUV i'd have zero concerns.

That’s the other issue - the rtt was meant to share between me and my gf but she’s already tired of camping and I go almost every other weekend. An RTT doesn’t seem convenient for only one person to set up and tear down camp constantly - especially if there are daily wheeling trips.

people that complain about setting up an RTT and taking it down daily, have you ever set up a 4-6 pole tent and torn it down? RTT is a breeze, dont open the windows and open/sleep/close. Its easy.

Yeah my only complaint was the one Sam made of a brink on the roof (when it was on my camper as allowed to the low pro rack) other then that it is so much easier then a ground tent

Lol I came from a 6 person Coleman and I’ll never do it again. There’s a reason why it’s sitting in my garage after 10 years.

Hmmmm. Why would RPMs at a cruising speed be dependent on the vehicle?
