Cool. I knew it looked like a Mathews. Well if you get the quiver loop for $5 you can just hang it and make your bow lighter while still having your arrows accessible and your Spider claw on the bow. It attaches with the two top screws that are on the quiver already. If you end up going that route let me know what you think. By the way, if you search around you can find the quiver loop in just about any color you want if you want a different color. Mine is black in my quiver. Best of luck!

It was a crazy adventure and I feel like I would have gotten an animal if I had another person there for the first leg.
I hunt rabbits, dove, quail, and grouse. Mostly rabbits and jackrabbits though since there are many and pretty easy to kill and skin

So the second part of the trip I went down with my wife Friday-Sunday for all who are wondering how the rest went. Saw and heard elk every day and spooked them too unfortunately. Wife almost got trampled by a nice muley too
The chiggers were so bad though that we had to bail Sunday evening. I have over 200 bites and it is terrible. I thought mosquitos were bad. These feel like cactus spines each time you touch them or brush against them when they are in you and itch like a bitch. Terrible. I want to cut my legs and arms off I am so uncomfortable haha

got in a bugle match between me and a bull elk...guess he got scared and took off over the hill or he had some cows with him. I was trying to get a look at him but he wasnt having any of it...I got him to respond for about an hour back and forth but he kept going up hill. So that was my fun for the morning.

Yeah hard to tell if it was a young bull or just a wise one...but he wasnt too thrilled about me bugling! I think he rounded up his cows and took off over the hill!

Most will advise against it... but my grandfathers tried and true method to get rid of chiggers was to scratch and pour bleach on it... :anonymous: same for poison ivy, oak and sumac.

Not sure what you got into but it sounds like seed ticks (baby ticks). The easiest way to tell is chiggers are bright red and seed ticks are tan and hard to see. Once they get embedded I will scratch them open and then they’ll dry up.

I second this method for poison ivy.

Yeah I'm pretty sure chiggers because you could see the little orange dot on each "bite" and the wounds look like little volcanoes from the hardend skin tube my body made. Fucking weird sounding haha

Chiggers itch like hell, seed ticks just make you worry about Lymes disease. I'll take the 3 days of itching. But it does suck.

I am so uncomfortable right now it is unbelievable. Looks like I have chicken pox. I've read that it can take up to 3 weeks to heal because of how the body reacts to chiggers and by the looks of things it might take that long.

The wild kicked my ass. And I'm a field fish biologist for a living

Deet is the only thing that I've found to keep ticks and chiggers away. And it should be at least 40%. But I guess that won't help you now. I've heard nail polish applied to them will help but never tried it. Good luck!

I don't even bother with insect repellant anymore, I just take my chances with the ticks and tolerate the mosquitoes. I'm more concerned with copperheads and rattlesnakes where I hunt.

I use a thermacell for skeeters and permethrin on my cloths which is odorless once it dries. It does a really good job of repelling ticks/chiggers and lasts about a week.

Thankfully we dont have chiggers here that I know of. But clear nail polish applied to the bite will kill the chigger instantly and stops the itch...It dries up then you can peel off the nail polish. It is a little embarrassing to buy clear nail polish if you arent married or have a girlfriend at the time...;)

I just use deet while checking cameras and off season stuff. Thermocell for mosquitos early in the season and nothing else. I don't like using the Thermocell but sometimes you its that or go home. USUALLY, when the season starts here, the ticks and chiggers are pretty much done.
