Is using Mobil1 going to void my warranty?

Also, do you think it's a good idea to clean and re-use the oil filter

Well yeah, Mobil1 will void your warranty but being on TW automatically does too.

Make sure you clean the filter using acetone or toluene.

This must be the millionth oil thread on TW and not a single one of them gives a definitive answer to what the “best” oil for your Taco is. How do you even define what the “best” oil is? Almost every single post says what oil you use or I use. Who gives a crap what oil some stranger uses. Because some stranger you don’t know anything about states what oil he uses, does that mean it’s the best? These oil threads are monotonous. Same non information every time. I honestly don’t know why I still look at these oil threads. I guess it like a moth attracted to a flame, it gets burned every time but keeps going back. Sorry I just felt like venting.
BTW what oil do you use? I may switch to your oil.

Yea cause I'm gonna waste my time digging for a thread instead of making my own... Kinda like venting on a thread for no reason... Lol

I’ve posted my own threads. If you took a minute of your precious time to search you would find your question has been posted numerous times ad infinitum with basically the same responses. A waste of everyone’s time. Didn’t mean to upset you OP.

If by wasting your time you mean typing in "oil" in the search bar, then yeah I guess its a waste of time?!?

All I know is that my oil can beat up your oil.

i hope i never buy a vehicle from some of you cheap people, come on really? supertech? the cheapest oil you can find? i would understand if its a lease but if you own the truck you should put quality oil. and for whoever said they run the cheapest oil for 12500 miles, that engine wont last long. i thought tacoma owners would be smarter

I will say this. Both my FIL's vehicles ('04 Sienna and '03 Dakota) are living proof that the cheapest oils are just fine. Both vehicles are well north of 100k miles and burn no measurable oil between changes.

They have survived mainly on SuperTech conventional, though a couple of years ago I switched to the high mileage formula. But ultimately they get what's cheapest and/or on sale. Currently the Dakota has SuperTech HM 10w-30 synthetic and the Sienna has 5w-30 Valvoline MaxLife. My FIL puts a cap of about $20 for an oil change, including the filter. So that's what I stick too. It's not hard to do that.

A couple of years ago I replaced the valve cover gaskets on the Dakota. The upper valve train looked great...clean and zero sludge.

I personally run a variety of oils in my vehicles. Currently and typically I have M1 5w-30 in the Taco. I'm running SuperTech 0w-20 in my wife's RAV4. And I have 5w-30 Valvoline MaxLife in my daughter's Yaris.

For filters...I use either M1, Fram Ultra or Purolator PureOne....whichever of those is readily available and/or on sale.

Don't overthink things and don't lose a second of sleep over oil. Use the proper viscosity, proper change intervals and a decent filter and you're good.

STOP with that logic...there's no room for that in these oil threads!
