I'm planning on getting matte Gray SCS Ray 10's with BFG A/T pretty soon. Currently have the stock 17x8 rims on my 2018 TRD Sport 4x4. Wondering if I should stick with 17" or go to 16".

*Planning a 2" front suspension upgrade at some point*

    All feedback greatly appreciated.

You lose a little bit of sidewall going to 17", if you are planning actually offroading, but there are some sizes you can get (255/75r17, 275/70r17, and 285/75r17) that don't have a 16" equivalent.

    Thanks for the feedback!
Do you think 285/75r17 will fit well on the stock suspension? Should I go bigger after 2" lift?

285/75r17 is roughly 34" tall and will definitely require a good bit of trimming, even with a 2" lift. Here are the options that fit stock (depending on wheel offset):

    1) 265/75r16, 265/70r17 ~31.7"x10.5"
    2) 255/75r17 ~32"x10.2"
    3) 255/85r16, 255/85r17 - ~32.8"x10.2"

If you are going to a 0 offset wheel (pushed farther out than stock) the last option might still hit your cab mount when stuffed and turning.

If you are wanting to go bigger after the lift then look at option 3 on the last list or option 4:

    4) 285/75r16, 285/70r17 ~32.8"x11.2"

Option 4 might still require a cab mount chop and some plastic trimming on the fender after a lift.

Great info, Man. Thanks a million!

I do want to go for a wider stance. How much further out is a 0 offset than stock?
I'm thinking 285/70r17 might be the way to go at this point. Do you think that will look/ride well?
I don't do a ton of off-road, but when I do, I don't want to have any issues.

The overall width change on the truck depends on the new wheel width as well as the offset. I believe the stock OR wheels are 16"x7" +25mm offset.

You can plug the numbers for your wheels into this calculator to get an extended width estimate: If you go up to a 285 width you will most likely need a wheel that pushes the tire out to avoid rubbing the upper control arm. Unfortunately, when you do this the tire sweeps out farther during turns and you put yourself at risk of hitting the cab mount or lower fender plastic. A lot of people on here run the 285/70r17, with a lift, with some minor plastic trimming. If you're not going to be conquering the Rubicon I think you'd be fine with this setup.

Haha! I don't think I'll be conquering the Rubicon (at least anytime soon). However, I now know what I need to do if I get the itch.

My current stock wheel is 17x7.5 offset 30mm. My new wheels are 17x8.5 offset -10.
Based on the calculator, I will have 27mm more room inside, and be pushed out 53mm.
What are your thoughts on this?

(sorry for all the questions. I greatly appreciate your input)
