Proximity Keyless Entry for the passenger side Door Handle

Any member in here feel the same way like I do? it is really inconvenienced that Toyota design the keyless entry for the driver side door only, however not available on the passenger side door? That's kind of lame... I wonder if its possible to buy another piece of driver side door handle then replace it with the passenger side door handle.

 

I remember when I had to unlock the doors with a key...

An acquaintance with a newer keyless opening fob didn't realize the car was picking up the fob from the house until he stopped for gas and then couldn't restart because the fob was still back at the house. Nice and close is good for me.

 

I agree, both of my previous cars had it at all door locations... i constantly go reaching for the passenger door expecting it to open..

If i didn't have it previously, it wouldn't be an issue

 

I would also prefer that at least the passenger door had the sensor.

 

I would like the passenger door as well. My wife's '16 Highlander has the driver and passenger door proximity, wonder if any parts could be frankenstien'd to work.

 

Probably to keep unwanted individuals out of your truck, in certain extreme circumstances. Just a thought.

 

My Murano has keyless entry. The button to unlock on the passenger side won't work if I'm standing on the driver side with the fob.

 

Same on the highlander, you have to be within a few feet of the door being used to unlock or lock. Be it the rear hatch, driver or passenger doors. If my wife has the key in her purse and standing by the passenger door holding my son, I can't open from the driver side if she has the key.

 

Another thing to be aware of incase you're in the middle of a road rage incident or other circumstance. If aggressor is standing beside your door and you put your truck into park all the doors automatically unlock. Haven't had time to go through the manual to search for how to keep the doors locked when the truck is put into park.

 

Its in the settings on the entune system, under settings and then vehicle.

 

Is this a... ummm... Murican' issue you speak of? Cause in my ~14 years of riding and driving on the roads, I've yet to have a single person ever come up to my vehicle in any "incident."

 

LOL I wish I could say the same! I've had one incident happen a few years ago.

While the chance is minute it is still a possibility and happens everyday.

This isn’t possible unless he started the truck with the key fob inside the vehicle then took the key fob out of the truck and left it inside the house or away from inside the truck.. Just try it.. Hold the key fob out the window in your truck and try to start it and you will see

I use my truck for work and I am constantly getting tools out of all doors on the truck, sometimes with my hands full and would be so convenient if the passenger door open with the key fob was in my pocket/within a few feet.
This would especially be convenient for parents with kids trying to get in the car while parents are inevitably hands full with other things

It's an easy and affordable install. Cool mod.

 

It's there.... my mom's Rav 4 Platinum has it so that she can touch any other door handle and unlock all 4, driver side just unlocks driver. They are banking on Taco owners not wanting to pay for that feature so they don't add it. Do not know if it's in the premium option that i didn't get, or the Limited, but it's an example of capitalism.

 

I found that just today... it's in Settings on mine. I was reading in the manual how it's available.

 

My $21k Corolla has it on both sides.
My $42k Tacoma should have come with it.

I added it following the instructions in the above link.
All is good now.

 

+1 there. Sort of the same here. My wife's 5 year old, $23k Prius C has it on the passenger side and my brand new Tacoma does not.
