This past Sunday I took a ride to Binghamton to buy a Lund snap tonneau cover. I left at about 7am and arrived at 8'ish. Anyway, the kid, yes I consider him a kid, installed the cover w/my help. (more or less just holding stuff):)
He had the whole thing laid out in his driveway when I arrived.
A few minutes later it was on!
My point being, if this kid makes his headlights like he installs covers I'll bet they're 100% correct!
The kid is Peter from InSight Retrofits...nice kid!

Thanks for a breath of fresh air Harry, on this rainy morning.

It is amazing what "kids" can accomplish when they set their minds to it.

My last dog had to be evacuated from his dog house one New Year's day before I went to work due to the creek running thru my acre was flooding his pen. Poor guy, standing in his house with snow melt in it and all around. Half my acre is three feet or more lower than the other part.

The first apartment I had after I got married was on the second floor. The first floor got flooded out by Agnes in ‘72. We were living on friends’ couches for a week or so until they let us back in.

Dave: Agnes made our local creek overflow the banks and the water came into my parents back yard. They were a quarter mile from the creek.

This past Monday I had my Tacoma inspected and while I waiting I snooped around the dealer lot.
So a young salesman asks if I was looking for anything.
I told him, no not really.
Anyway, I ended up looking at new Tacomas.
I told him that if I was going to buy new it would have to be a sport.
I saw a nice sr or sr5 in silver...looked nice. So I asked if they had any access cab sports in silver.
He went back in to check their inventory...he comes back and there's the sales manager w/him. I thought to myself here we go!!!
They didn't have any in silver...ok.
So the manager was trying to get me to get a blue one.
Told him I have blue I want something different.
He said will you commit if I get a silver one from another dealer.
No, I'm not committing to anything.
I told the kid I'll be back to deal w/you..I don't like to be pushed.

    Good morning Susan, gang,
I think today may be the last nice day till Spring. In the high 70's here yesterday, even opened my doors yesterday to let some heat in. Chance of rain Monday.
Up to three gophers caught now. Garden is about done for, just waiting to dig up my potatoes.

Harry, Yup you were being pushed. One of the things I like about Toyota is the ability to pull a vehicle from another dealer in the same region. At least I believe that is how it works. A smart manager would have told you he could look in the region and see if there is a vehicle that meets your criteria.

If I am wrong I take no offense at being corrected.

    Morning all:hattip:

I have the same feelings most days. My only problem is "I'm a kid trapped in an old farts body" (70) and if I do something I haven't done in awhile the muscles tell me real loud.:D

You are quite right Tom. Dealers can pull up a manufacturers data base and check for a model (with the equipment) you are interested in and see who has it(local or within driving range. I have picked cars up in Cape Cod from just north of Philly). It keeps me busy driving doing dealer trades. They don't like to bring one in from another dealer unless you are committed as it would cost them money, but a GOOD sales Dept. would gladly check to see availability on what your specs are. A few minutes to check and this will possibly make you want to consider a deal.

Not a fan of pushy salespeople. The guy who sold me the Tacoma was nice as pie -- right up until we sat down in the finance manager's office. He stood outside and cajoled her and us to get a bunch of extras tacked onto the deal. I guess they improve his cut. What a maroon.

The Tacoma I bought came from another local dealer. I asked the dealer I was at if they could do that since they didn't have one like I wanted and they found one.

John and Carl, I live in the Mid-Atlantic Toyota region. All the advertising cost are split amongst the dealers for a greater coverage at less expense to the dealers. One of the bennies for the consumer is the ability to have a greater access to inventory. The big benny is to the dealers which effectively stops the dealers from bidding against themselves for your business resulting in a greater cost to you for the car.

I sort of like the Toyota sales model in that I have a better chance at getting the car I want but at a greater cost to me.
