My truck is still driving very well post TSB. I did fill up with regular unleaded gas today so it’ll probably drive rough this tank, but that’s nothing a tank of premium won’t fix.

After one month old habits are showing up again, but just not as much. Still though Im disappointed, and I guess this trans just cant be fixed without a total re programming which I thought this was but nope.

As part of the TSB and probably to meet some EPA regulation they are supposed to put that on the underside of the hood or under the appearance cover. Most techs are skipping it. That's why the only real way to make sure the update was done is to read the calibration code with a scantool. I have had all 3 flashes and never got a sticker but I don't care because I checked the code and I am content with the way my truck drives. YMMV

They put mine under the hood, driver side closer to the windshield. I checked for it to make sure they did the update.

Much better! The stumble/lugging is gone! They did 0062-18! Dealer did the update without question! Really wondering about gas mileage, was getting 20 to 23 on my 30 mike trip to work each day! Will be interesting to see what happens now!203D12C0-0E1E-4BA4-A06C-5C0CBE4D764C.jpg

How do you clear the learning? I’m about 4K into the 62-18 TSB and my truck is still driving great with no signs being exhibited of the original problematic symptoms. I have 5.4k on my truck now.

I respectfully disagree. You are describing what the first two updates did. Most people are not experiencing that with the third. I’m not suggesting you are wrong but you should verify with a scanner that you really have the latest update.

I had this update done yesterday. I was hesitant to change things as my truck generally drives fine. However, it does sometimes hesitate off the line under hard acceleration. I figure there wouldn't be an update if there wasn't something to fix so had it done.

After my 30 mile drive home yesterday I think I can say it definitely seems different. Accelerates better. Shifting doesn't seem greatly different but maybe revs a bit more in 4th and 5th before shifting - especially under acceleration. Hard to say for sure after just one drive.

On the downside, might affect my MPG. I average 22 MPG on nearly every tank with occasional +/- 1-2 variation. Trip averages are a bit more sporadic depending on traffic and how I drive that day so will have to wait for a few tank averages to see for sure, but I did get one of the lowest trip averages coming home yesterday of 19.8 mpg. Almost never see it that low. Could have been me playing around more testing the update but I'm wondering if maybe the original programming was to improve MPG and the update is a way to get around EPA guidelines.

I don't think that's the case. Mine drove like crap at first and eventually drove pretty well. If the flash returns it to the way it drove at first it should drive like crap again after the flash but doesn't.

I don't know how the AI Shift "learns" or what it learns but maybe the trick is to be a better teacher.

You can disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, I think, but doesn't the update itself reset the learning?

Mine has bad moments now and then now, but it is much improved overall after the update and a few weeks of learning me.

Is it better off to just invest into the OVtune for long-term fixes for the shift lag or are people having similar issues with the transmission "learning" again like these new TSB's?

I am having a hard time convincing myself to do the same..... but in the same breath I also think Toyota really has not done their best with the engine/transmission.
As I stated earlier in this thread, how is it that they are tuned for fuel milage, but after the new and improved TSB people are seeing mpg increases. Toyota rushed this model into production it seems and did not fully test it programming capabilities.

According to the OV thread, people are generally happy with it, and their new version 1.05 will be out within a week or two. What I am concerned about, and what I havent been able to verify for sure in the thread, is if it cancels your factory warranty. When I emailed them regarding my question, their response was:
"Our tune does not void your warranty and has actually been tested and passes all of Toyotas mandatory emissions requirements."
It appears to be okay, but still a little cautious of it. I may wait a bit and see what people are saying about v1.05.

another thought I have often had, is that perhaps the issues cannot be fixed with software alone. I have a feeling that it would have been fixed a while ago if software were the only issue as they are now beginning year 4 of the new generation. How long does something like this take to get right? Is it possible that the tranny/engine combination didnt really work like they thought it would work on paper? For Toyota, its all about money and what is the cheapest route to go. In their mind, they might lose less if they pretend there is no problem, and take the hit with people who are unhappy rather than the cost of replacing certain mechanics of the vehicle with a recall or bulletin. Also, how much more time are they willing to spend on coming up with new software? Is it worth it to them to take the hit in the bottom line?
