Brought my FJC to the dealer this afternoon for an oil change and tire flip since i had a coupon.
It's a '14 with 15k on the clock and i usually get 3 or 4 salesmen trying to get me to trade it in.
    Today they got up to 33k and i can have a 2018 SR5 T4R for 6k.
Awful tempting, since they're almost up to what I paid for it new...and I do like 4Runners.
I like the FJ too and I'll keep it for now.:notsure:

Our local dealership recently changed ownership - it had been one of the most totally customer oriented sales department I've seen. I took my 2004 Tacoma with 38K miles in for a Check Engine light issue (O2 sensor). The day before my appointment I got a call that they would give me a free appraisal. I dropped the truck off - no one there to talk about the appraisal. I got the shuttle back to work...immediately began to get emails and texts asking where I was from the sales people. Told them I'd be back when the truck was done. When I picked up the truck, their sales manager showed up with an assistant in tow offering my a whopping $8000 for the truck in trade. Pushy, arrogant. Everything everyone hates about car salespeople. What a quick and negative transformation in a matter of weeks.

Keep getting these unsolicited calls trying to sell me things I don't want.

Gal called me and told me that they had up to 20 free home security systems available and was I interested. I said yes, I would like to have 20 of them. She sounded so happy to finally have someone interested. She then asked if I owned my home. I replied no, I live in my car. Looong pause and she said she said she didn't think I qualified and hung up.

I had placed my phone on speaker when she called and guys at next table in Hardee's cracked up and said they knew what to say the next time they received a call like that.

    Such is life. :)

Exactly. I know the former owner - he and his wife supported a huge number of local charities and not for profits. They supported our Police Academy and provided a ballistic vest for the honor grad of every academy class. I also know several of the former and current employees. I had planned on buying a new Tacoma there when I retire in a few years....have to think long and hard about that now.

I contacted them through "chat", glad I didn't drive up there from what it sounds like. Oh well, my money is good anywhere!!!!!
This morning I picked up the cap, this evening I was in a tree stand, didn't see a thing. It's about that time for the walleye night bite at the river, way too high to fish! :(

Morning all, slight sprinkle o/n per the wet spots on my deck. Up to five fewer gophers here now. Got my rare Lancaster lantern back together after painting the Coleman tank the burner is on.

How'd you get rid of the gophers?

I have a couple old traps a late neighbor gave me years ago. I throw the carcasses down by the creek for wild critters to eat.

I find trapping gophers an art, which I haven't mastered. When I get one I generally leave it in the hole, hoping that might encourage others to depart.

    Evening all:
Got busted tonight, was sitting in the tree stand when I heard a deer blow and saw two tails going through the woods, might have to go a little higher if they can spot me. They didn't wind me, the wind was blowing across me and they were out in front of me, lots of time left and at least I saw something.

For all of the believers in this thread: last Thursday I had a biopsy on my back and today learned that I have Melanoma. Ironically six months to the day after my sister died of cancer.

Any prayer you care to offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Gary Gabel aka Holeshot
