What offset and backspacing should I look for to not have any rubbing issues on 285/75/R16?

My truck is stock in the rear and in the front I have bilstein 5100 set at 4th notch on stock springs to have truck leveled. I currently have the stock wheel with stock tire 265/70/R16 but i want to upgrade. What should i be looking for in wheel specs so i wont rub? I rather go this route than having to use wheel spacers

As annoying as it is, you really arn't going to be able to run 285/75R16s cleanly with even a 3 inch lift; unless you wan to to use a 8 inch wheel spacer lol. If i were you I would go one of 2 ways:

Upgrade to 265/75R16 or 285/70/16 which are both 32s which should clear with around 4 inches of backspacing for those 285s

    or

go all out and go for the 3 inch lift, 33s, ucas, cab mount chop, the whole shootin match

a body lift really doesn't help in this situation because the main thing your tires will hit is your body mount.

hope that helps narrow your search a bit

    thunderhope,
I'm trying to find the answer, putting new wheels and tires together for winter usage. Looking at the Falken wildpeak AT3W with the Level 8 MK6 16x8 and 0 offset. I don't plan on any lift just retaining stock .

Thanks great info! If i go with the 3 inch lift whats the best route to take by keeping the 5100s i already have. Ive read ome 887 springs and a 3leaf pack with extended 1500 in rear will achieve that correct?

I dont know much a bout coils but you can go with the lowest load rating for the best ride quality in that case

Mehhh I’m on a 2” lift, 285/75r16 toyo RTs, with a CMC. 16x8 wheels; 0os. Only thing rubbing was plastic shown below. How ever you do need to run UCAs and run them at 2.5-3 of caster.548A2D2A-1274-4C1D-B748-90D863BACF3B.jpg

Note: I have not flexed my setup yet. I just got these wheels and tires about 2minths ago. I’d assume I’d be rubbing my pinch welds on full flex. Next tire rotation I’ll be hammering them in.

To note also....all tires aren’t created equal. Toyo RTs are 32.8. I’d assume if the tire was 33-33.4” I be rubbing in other place. Go on the brand website and look at the real specs

No idea but make sure you pinch weld while your down there. I’m pretty sure I’ve rubbed the pinch weld going up fast on a bumpy incline. Nothing crazy but it’s there. Just being on the road I’ve had no rubbing issues on pavement.

I have not fully flexed in this setup offroad. I’ll be pinch welding on my next tire rotation.

Just picked up some AGP 17s wrapped in 265 70 17 tires and they also have a negative 12 offset. Should I be worried about rubbing, the truck is at the stock ride height?

@Ayusuf99 the ideal offset for 17x7.5 is -4 to +54 offset. 17X8inch would be a zero offset to be a solid fit. -12 will will poke out more than recommended. May have an impact issue.

There was some rubbing on the front part of the wheel well liner along with on the mud flaps so I picked up some 265-65-17s

It's clear along the front part of the wheel well liner and by the upper control arm but right by the mud flap it's close, not sure if it will with suspension travel, might end up just selling the wheels and tires and picking up a set with a zero or positive offset, I like the wheels. It is just that they stick out too much for my liking. Usually I don't like them so far out. I like the max right in line with the fender, or I might just put some wild peak AT3s on the stock rim , plus I wasn't sure how they would look once I put them on the truck after I bought them
