First time poster, long time follower. I have been following threads on this forum for years, but never had the justification to purchase a new vehicle until recently. One of the main reasons I went with the Tacoma was all of the information on this forum, so thank you all for your input. Some of the threads about diff howling and gear hunting were a little concerning, but, overall, it seems as if most owners on here truly love their Tacos.

Now about my experience. I first test drove a Tacoma DCSB TRDOR 4x4 with the premium package and really liked the leather and the overall feel of the truck, but the top of my head was nearly rubbing the roof. It was just too short with the moon roof. I tried to move around and play with the seat to make it fit for me, but I just did not see myself feeling comfortable in that truck for years to come.

I ended up going with a 2018 DCSB TRDOR 4x4 in White. Overall, I like the Tacoma so far. It's not perfect - it's a little sluggish and wants to chug along at high gears, but these are things I already knew about and expected. I am coming from a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland with a V8 and although that was a really nice vehicle, it had way too many electrical and software issues to keep long term. The Tacoma is a little more squishy feeling on the road (nose dives, body roll, etc), but I am sure it will be much more forgiving off the pavement compared to the GC. Can't wait to take it out off pavement.

I will post some pics later today. The first mod will be to remove the predator side steps and Husky liners are on their way.

Here's to hopefully a long and enjoyable relationship with a Tacoma.

Welcome to the group. I hope you continue to be happy with it. It is a shame to have to pay for a truck you aren't happy with.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Best advice that I can give is do not be afraid of the Higher rpm. For my MT OR, 3200-3500 is where it makes power. This was 4th for me

    IMG_20180716_213717.jpg

The traction control when compared to the gen 2 a-trac on my truck seems quicker. My fuel economy ( which isn't a huge factor ) is a great 17mpg for my Forrest road, hill crawler...IMG_20180810_165003.jpg

And the locker engages with zero issues.
Enjoy the truck and welcome to the OR club. Now you get to join in the fun of reminding sport owners that the only thing their hood scoop is good for is holding kazoos. ;)

    Enjoy and explore !FB_IMG_1531064458248.jpg

Thanks all. This forum is great. Already saved me time at Lowe's looking for the correct plugs to plug the holes where my predator tubes used to be.
