How’s Henry doing?

 

This is the look I get when I made too much noise tearing out the Old dish washer last night ....... then the weather is kinda crappy today lots of wind and some light rain so they hanging out inside.

 

Thanks for asking. He's still stable on his meds and seems to be doing okay. Again, not his old self, but pretty close. His breathing is very good, so no immediate concerns. He is eating more than he used to, and we are wondering if this is due to one or more of the drugs. We're not worried about it as he's generally been a skinny boy his whole life anyway, and a little extra reserves might be helpful if he has a few bad days.

He has been getting little bumps on his ears for some time due to allergies, and we were always able to knock them down with an antihistamine. If they got real bad the vet gave us some steroid cream, and/or she would give him a steroid injection, but we can't use steroids on him any longer as they can cause fluid retention and other side effects that could exacerbate his heart failure. Even though I have added the antihistamine to his daily meds, his ears now bug him from time to time. And then he recently got one of those bumps just under his eye. It got pretty big and we were all worried that it might get infected, but it mostly went back down on it's own. Then, Heather came home to find him all bloody on that side of his face. She was horrified, but once she cleaned him up it ended up just being a tiny little scab. It looks like he scratched it open. It's still there and we're still watching it.

The bottom line is that he seems to be in no distress and acts content most of the time. He's very affectionate, even after we pill him, and his quality of life is good.

I just move a bunch of new pictures of him off of my phone, but will post one when I get home today. Thanks again for checking up on him!

 

Good to hear! Glad the blood was from the scab but that must have been one heck of a fright. Thanks for the update. Give him a belly rub from me when you get home.

Here's my guard cat. His name is Winkie but he prefers Mr Cat or Catman.

 

Definitely an extra belly rubbin from maxtherat! Glad to hear he’s doing well and think about him often. Always afraid to ask the question if it happens to be bad news. Glad @Taco Buggy stepped up and asked- definitely a good dude!

 

Well not really any chance of using any of the barstools today. Oh well I just pay the mortgage, provide food, clean litter boxes... I can find somewhere else to sit

 

I promised a new picture, but here's three. In the first one you can see the bump under his right eye. It pretty much went away and the last of the scab fell off two nights ago. However, it's coming back again, so the poor guy will have to go to the vets again because we don't know what's going on there.


Here's one where he's feeling playful. He tires quickly, but still wants to mess around.


And here's proof that he's comfortable and living the good life.
