    Ditto. As a VA employee, I have instructions for actual homeless vets on how they can get off the street permanently. I’ve confronted 5 so far, and all were liars. Pisses me off. They simply got uniform parts from Goodwill and made a “homeless vet” sign. Never served.

    The shelters won’t take you if you’re on drugs, and we have shelters all over town. So, most of the homeless around here don’t use them. They make camps under overpasses and then panhandle at the access road intersections. I get nervous because I remember the kids that would throw grenades at convoys, or slide land mines into the road in Bosnia. I don’t deal with panhandlers, and I think they know not to even try to beg from me.

    Over 22 hours, no one shot in Chicago!!


    No one was shot in Chicago for more than 22 hours Friday, according to police. But two men were wounded in separate shootings early in the morning and late at night.

    Between 12:35 a.m. and shortly after 10:55 p.m., shootings citywide did not result in any reported deaths or injuries.
