Are the stock Wranglers really shitty or do they not look cool enough that people swap them out? Is the Kevlar lining a gimmick or not good enough? Anyone actually used them for off road? I have no trails in my area and can't test it myself. I'm just confused on why everyone gets rid of them when they use their trucks for Costco runs. ;)

They are shitty, probably put on to save cost and get the best fuel economy rating, only kept for two weeks before getting rid of them. I did get my truck at the end of January and even in 4wd they sucked.....Granted we get extreme cold and lots of snow but i had no confidence in driving with these. Closest Costco is 425 km away from me and depending on weather and time of year its an adventure to get too :)

I have used them off road and they are not good - read bad. They are far from cheap tires, but the “All Terrain” rating is a bit ambitious and I’d say they are at best trail tires for light off-roading. To me they are quiet on the highway and good for commuting but mine are coming off because I need better tires to off road in.

A member here reported two blowouts on trail on the same trip, that was it for me. I cant take chances like that, I do a lot of remote desert trips in summer for work and play. I’ve driven over 1 million total miles with all 4 of my offroad Toyotas fitted with BFG’s, and never had a single blowout.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I'll replace them after this cross-country move just cause they're great on mpgs. Lol.

Well, I wasn’t going to reply, since there are already a few threads about these, but they are actually pretty good tires that don’t look really cool... I live in Minnesota, and the tires have performed great in the snow. I haven’t even needed 4wd here. I took the truck to Colorado and did some off-roading in the San Juan mountains, and again they were fine. I suspect that in mud they won’t be great, but I wouldn’t rush out to replace them..

Reviving and older thread. Used these for the first time off road today. They were ok. No complaints, conditions were dry. I did notice they collect rocks like no other tire I've ever had however. I mean, they were all completely crammed full of small rocks.

I like how one person said they were awful in the snow, then another said they performed great in the snow and didn't even need 4wd.

    So which one is it?

After driving in all conditions except for snow, so far I can say they're good tires. Those dudes saying they're garbage just needed justifaction to buy new tires cause they don't "look" good.

I got some for mostly pavement driving with some forest/logging/crappy roads or camping. Went with these because they looked like they'd be better on wet pavement, which the old tires sucked at (I think Michelin LT X or something).

3 years and 50k later, I can say that they're great on pavement, wet or dry, quiet, and there's quite a bit of tread left. They're not great in snow or mud, though. Actually pretty useless in deep stuff. Hard to do anything but a straight line without 4WD in the best of circumstances, and hard to do anything at all in the worst. This is in the soggy Cascade Concrete snow, which is basically soup. Drier snow like in most other places might be a different story.

If the worst you're doing is gravel and rough forest roads they're great, good traction and hard wearing. If you're getting into anything deep or loose, I'd keep looking.
