2017 TRD PRO Decal Questions / Pros vs. Cons

Discussion in '3rd Gen. Tacomas (2016-2023)' started by frankybones, Oct 1, 2018.

?

Remove or Keep Vinyl Stickers?

  1. Keep - Yes, it looks cool

  2. Remove- No, it looks cheesy and takes away from the overall look of the truck

  3. Keep - Adds Value and will be better in long run?

Typically I am not a fan of decal's, vinyl stickers etc. I recently picked up a a 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro and it has a factory TRD Pro Decal package. Its on the factory sticker and from what I understand this was limited in 2017. Dont get me wrong I understand anything can be duplicated and its just vinyl stickers. When I first got the truck I was 100 % set on removing them since I love the color of the cement and I feel like it takes away from the overall look of the truck but recently I have been looking at some older toyotas trucks and noticed that alot of them did come from the factory with some pretty original stickers for limited runs. I dont know if leaving them on would add any value but trying to make sure I dont make any overall mistakes and regret it in the long run. Here are a couple of pics of the truck and everything on the truck was already on it when I bought it. I have not made any mods to it at all. The only thing I plan on doing is adding remote starter, duratracs at some point and possibly removing the decals. This is my 4th Tacoma since 1999 so its not my first rodeo.

Hood graphics look cool, but I would take off the bed ones.

You could keep the hood decals and maybe remove the bed ones and have them redesigned by the decal guy that sells here. CBoy808 look him up for some ideas.

yeah I'm either going to keep what I have or remove completely. Im leaning towards getting rid of them at this point so I dont have to think about it anymore. not sure I even like the black Tacoma letters on the tailgate.

Peeled mine off as soon as I got home from dealer . I also put on the original hood decal from @CBoy808 . But I think it looks great on the cement 8476C368-3EF8-4FD8-966F-60D104AA36F3.jpg0C318C7C-69B1-4099-9684-7232990C1F65.jpg5250CEAB-0F2B-4A92-B03C-5A19BF193D79.jpgA97C9576-86BB-45FB-9A26-B29D8D7D0D54.jpg

Did you have any issues getting it off? I was going to have it "professionally" removed since they have been on for so long I am afraid of damaging the paint. It certainly looks better without the stickers on the blue.

I think they look fine. There's plenty of other tacomas running around without a graphics kit, why look like them?

Sometimes it needs a little dressing up to stick out from the crowd. Cement is getting less rare now that its filtered down to the other trims.

I like a little flash on my truck.

But it's your truck, do what you want to do, not what we think you should do.

You won't damage the paint as long as you don't use a metal scraper. I used a plastic razor blade scraper to remove my TRD OR decals and they came off very easily with no heat (not even direct sunlight). Just hit the entire area with Goo Gone (not Goof-Off!) after you remove them to get rid of any lingering adhesive, rinse well, and then wash the bedsides. Unless you're talking years, you probably won't see any difference and if you do, clay bar the area to clean it up.

Either way when you're done, give the bedsides a couple coats of wax because the area under the paint won't have anything of the sort to protect it.

I'm not a flashy guy, but I like them. If I bought a Pro with the OEM sticker kit, I'd leave them on. In my personal opinion, it would add a certain value years down the road. May not necessarily be monetary, but it would make you stand out from other trucks without the kit. When I see debadged cars, I automatically think it's been in some sort of accident.

Peel’em! Not a big fan of those prticular graphics.

The big badge on the sides is already enough, no need to “scream to world for attention” further.

I would use a blow drier to make it even easier to peel.
