Not for first gun. Go with something easy like a glock where its ready to fire

honestly for a first gun something with a safety and decocking is normally best if the person doesnt know much about handguns

decocker=SA/DA...safest deal going, especially for carry.
    Thanks

X3. I like the fact that the 1911 has a safety switch as opposed to other double action guns (glock, etc.) that don't have a safety on them. If you are going to carry, you should carry with a round in the chamber - so would you rather have a mechanical safety or not once a round is loaded? I chose to go with the safety (at first) while I was new to CCW. My 1911 also has a backstrap that won't allow the hammer to fall unless it is depressed; which means you basically have to have your hand around the pistol to fire it; no accidental discharges in the holster.

The CCW lifestyle is no joke; anyone interested should do serious research into what weapon they want to carry, the safety functions built into their weapons, holsters, mindset, etc. I have all of my holsters custom made so that I can specifically design added safety features to prevent accidental discharge. It is a responsibility that should never be taken lightly.
