    Guys;

    Just finished looking at an old posting on removing the rear bumper on a Gen II Tacoma. I need to replace mine (backed into post, yeah dumb). What is the purpose of the two holes on either side of the step that have the the plastic plugs? I'm also thinking about adding a ball to the bumper for simple towing. Do you know how much you can tow with a simple setup like this?

    Thanks;

    Jim E

    Welcome!

    I think the two covered holes on the bumper have the little plastic fasteners that hold the plastic piece in place.

    Yep. Underneath those covers are bolts.

    In regards to towing capacity of a ball on the bumper, I believe it’s like 500 lbs? Not sure.
