What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Got sick of waiting for my special order Rhino Rack shovel mount and made my own with about 7 dollars of plumbing parts from Lowe’s.

 

Yea just black, I was hoping they had some type of dark grey. On the badges they def look MG, but I did the grill today, looks more black. (Bigger area).

Came out decent for 1st try basically. Not sure how long it’ll last. But it was fun playing with it.

 

Installed a new battery today. OEM pooped the bed after 5 years. I went with Duralast Gold mainly because of the warranty. Good thing I had a jump starter pack. It has been awesome the past 2 days. I only got clicking yesterday morning so I jumped it hoping I had left something on. It was fine the whole day. Sometimes sluggish to startup. This morning same clicking. Jumped and went to work but clicking again after work so I figured it was the battery. We'll see how this one is in the morning...

 

What did you use? I'm planning on doing the same.

 

Vinyl stickers, some guy has them for sale here in parts section. They came out ok, kinda hard to wrap the curves with vinyl, but maybe I just suck at wrapping lol.

LOL, I have a party if I get over 15.5. Been driving the wifes 07 4.7 4Runner for a couple of weeks waiting for a guy that is buying it to get the money together and I feel like I never have to put gas in it.

Advice you didnt ask for if you do the door be aware of weight. I did 5 sqft per font door. it's about 4lbs. Not offensive, but very noticeable. My 2 cents.

 

This is for off-road use when you are stuck? Is there a quick way to remove the shovel or do you have to loosen the screws each time?

Anything over 72 MPH is where I see the MPG Cliff. For me, 72 is where the truck hums along right around 2100 RPMs and I can usually push 20+ even with a roof rack with a plano case and traction boards, plus a tent over the back half.

 

Right now I’d have to loosen the four bolts each time. The bolts will be replaced with knobs so it’s more convenient to access without a screwdriver. As little as I’ve had to use the shovel or any other hand tool, it’s a compromise I’m fine with. I’d rather spend the 100 dollars I’m saving on something more critical.

 

Crappy gas station shot but after searching for a good deal for almost a year, I finally got the exact snug top I’ve been after, didn’t need to get it painted and for a great price. Purchased from an AZTW member but being too excited after we fitted it, I forgot his name.....sorry bud.
Its the small wins in life that make it worth it.

 

What kind of behind-the-grille light mounts are you guys running?

You could swap out the phillips heads for big thumb screws and that would be a permanent solution!
