That'd be the one Jerry. I'm going to stab some square tube into the stock frame and mimic your winch mount. I don't think I'll be covering the winch though.

That plate work is pretty sweet though. I'm not set up to bend, so tube it is.

Had a little fun running this Instagram challenge that a few welders have done. Turned out pretty good, could improve it if I dialed my welder a tad. Gets pretty heat soaked after a few beads.

That was on my old trusty Millermatic 251. We've also got a Miller 350P, a pair of Lincoln 256's, and a couple Esab's as well. All good in their own ways, the Lincoln's would probably be my first pick if I could only have 1. we had a Millermatic 252 for about a year, worked great for a couple months, then went to shit and Miller said it checked out in spec and there was nothing wrong. For a non-production environment, sure, but I let it go and thats when I got the 2nd Lincoln. We've really liked the Lincoln's

Thanks, I’ll have to take a look at the 256’s. Being that I mostly just build sliders, I’m trying to debate if I need that much machine. I’ve built 65 sets this year in my spare time on the side of my full time job and my Hobart 210 has been great to me. But I just like the thought of a bigger machine and not getting close to the duty cycle as often as I do on mine.

They just updated their 250 class machine- there's now a Powermig 260 with all the digital goodies that are becoming the norm on middle-high end welders nowadays. I have no real reason to buy one since I have more machines that guys in my shop to run them, but I've been itching to get my hands on one of them and throw down some welds. I know what you mean about not 'needing' to go that large, we really don't either with this range of fab work, but the increased duty and the ability to crank 'er up if needed for a random project is nice to have.

It’s always nice to have the nicer end tools. You get what you pay for right? I’ve had that same itch for a little while now to pull the trigger on a new one but I’m just trying to be smart about it haha. Might just stay with my machine and learn how to TIG and get one of those hahaha. By the way, are you guys using the tables from certiflat? Or Tab and slot? Whatever the company is called?

Was getting some gas filled and saw that 260 from Lincoln. Looks nice. Way too much machine for me, but have been looking at the 210. Especially with the sale Lincoln is having.

Yeah we have the CertiFlat /Tab and Slot Fab Block tables with the leg/casters- 4 of them(3ft x 6ft custom ordered), and 6 extensions(1ft x 3ft), lots of clamps, pegs, etc. Bought the tables about 2 1/2 years ago and they've been a game changer for us. So useful! You don't realize just how handy a super solid and super flat table is until you get one. And the unlimited clamping options they give is a real time and frustration saver as well. Don't know how I used to do what I do now without the tables(actually some of the things I do now I couldn't without them!).

Awesome!!! I completely agree. I have a 3x6 table for my garage and it’s so great. I love it. Absolutely love all the clampability (yes that’s a word now). Not that this is anywhere near as complicated as what you guys are doing, but I recently built some racks for my work trailer to hold all of our gear and they really needed to be square and true. The table helped out soooo much!!

I'm running one of those little 210mp machines right now, and I love it. Runs 035 and 045 dual shield like a champ.

Funny How the Vulcan Welders look so much like the Lincolns.

Almost like they could be built on the same line

I get lots of “we need something like this” jobs. No material spec, no drawings, just make it. Its a guard to protect valves. Felt like playing with stainless that day!

It is nothing new. For at least 30 years the same foundry in Taiwan has been making woodworking machinery that gets branded as Woodtek, Powermatic, Craftsman, and more recently Grizzly and Steel City.
Granted that brand consolidation is a much newer practice.
