I was rotating the tires and while spinning the front wheels I noticed a very light click sound on the driver's side. I don't hear it driving and I almost missed it when spinning the wheel by hand. The right side doesn't have this noise.
    Any insight on this? Thanks

Have you checked the hubs, seals, and CVs?

Just did, it moves about 1/4" side to side. The other side is tight.
    I guess new CV time?

    oh shit.jpg

Update: the 1/4" side to side play turned out to be the needle bearing. The clicking was the axle.

If you're saying that the CV moves 1/4" when you grab it and shake it, then yes, I believe it is time for a new one. Mine do not move when I try to wiggle them.

How would you describe the noise when you drive it?

I can't hear the noise when driving at any speed. Just a very light clicking noise when I spin the wheel by hand.

Check the calipers, namely the wire clips that hold the pads in. They can hit a wheel weight and make a clicking noise. Solution is to check the clips are seated and/or move the wheel weight out of the way. AMHIK

Get a mechanics stethoscope and find exactly where the clicking is coming from.

Where exactly does the CV wiggle? It's articulated in two spots and, depending on the orientation of the axle, the movement may be perfectly normal.

If you look at the pic in post 3 I grabbed that piece and it moves. Truck parked in driveway with a jack on the front center jacking point just enough to crawl under but neither wheel was off the ground. Like I said in post 3 the passenger side doesn't budge.
I'm thinking it can't be bad enough to require replacing immediately. Thanks

Reman axles from CVJ get pretty good reviews. I think they only refurbish OEM CVs.

I wouldn't overthink it. Once you start hearing it while driving replace it with an OEM axle.

Pretty sure I got the same thing but I can hear/feel mine after Toyota did my frame swap.
Not sure if it was there before but new winter tires (the duratracs were scalloped rough and noisy) and turning the tunes down to actually listen for sounds I hear this.
Hoping it’s just the left side axle bearing and not the shaft also.
While it was on the lift the driver side would make a clicking sound freewheeling.
I will have to check for play in the shafts but the noise was coming from the diff itself. We used a scope to listen.
It also goes away when in 4wd it is also intermittent under normal driving.
If Toyota is willing to fix it I’ll go back with oem. If I’m on my own I’ll do the bushing route.

I had someone else drive and listen. He heard the slight clicking. I must have lost my hearing in Afghanistan.
