No way I would knowingly make that purchase. $30K to have a truck that is likely going to have issues is not a good buy.

^ This X2. This is an actual business plan? Dealing with Lemon Law vehicles does not sound like...well a sound business? How do you advertise a car lot like this? We deal in Lemons?? What if you the buyer wants to trade it in in a few years....you are going to have to disclose that it was Lemoned?(word?) at one point. I don't think I would take the chance....for a 4K difference in price I would just buy new and not worry about it....that's just me though.

You could probably buy a used 2016/217 for less depending on model. I got my TRD OR double cab for 36k out the door with all the options

Id tell him to go for it.
My truck (a 2016) is at 40k miles and only problem I've had are the shifting ( fixed with the TSB), and the leak on the rear diff which took me 3 months to get back my truck after deciding to finally email the CEO of Toyota, but besides that I haven't had any issues and have absolutely loved my truck.

Sure he can buy a new truck for a bit more cost but those problems can arise on the new truck as well, theirs no guarantee unfortunately.
ive seen 2018's and 2017's with less miles and more issues than my 2016 has had but just like with buying a new truck you're taking a gamble.

I'm givin' it the old raspberry.... no go. Too much downside risk for not enough savings. He can probably find a non-lemon off the street for $30-32k. Or $35k'ish for a new. And yes, interest rate might hurt. The difference on $30k over 5 years between 2% and 6% is $3300. $20k and it's $2200.
