I've searched and haven't been able to come to a conclusion... Is the TRD offroad axle stronger than the rear axle in my SR5?

I'm going to run 33/35"s and will be swapping out the ring and pinon. Does it even matter at these tire sizes?

Should I scrap both of these ideas and just swap in an axle from a 1st gen tundra?

Do you have an auto or manual trans?

Manual has the same 8.75 ring gear as the OR

Thanks. Wasn't sure if it was just different nomenclature for the axles of if the ring gears were actually different sizes

    Mostly stuff I built.
The TRD OR axle is the strongest of the three you listed. 8.75” ring gear and 32 spline axles. I have personally run 40” tires on a bone stock Toyota mini truck 8” axle you will be fine.

That and how many run these tires with the same axle lol.

    Should be fine.
It's not just the tire size but also how hard you are on the axles.

Tire size matters yes but I'd be willing to bet a 31" that's used a lot off road is causing more stress on a diff than a 35" that never leaves pavement.

Yep. I had 38” tires and a welded diff on my 82 pickup

Thanks for all the replies. I know a guy with a totaled 3rd gen that I could get the axle from for basically free and was wondering if it was worth the time to swap for a stronger r&p and 4.30 gears.

Sounds like I should just go straight to 4.88

If it’s basically free I’d throw the OR axle under it! Esp for how easy it would be. Then put the 4.88 in.
