has anyone trimmed out the cubby area to left of the steering wheel and made a plate to use contura switches yet?

I think there is a plate on shapeways for contura switches and that cubby

For those there is 1 that goes sideways or 2-3 of the smaller factory switches. I didn't see any for the contura II,III, or V. Should have specified the bigger switches.

I was sure I saw a switch plate for the contura switches, but just looked and couldn’t find it, so probably going senile.

Unless it's sideways, it won't work. I tried to modify a plate to fit one in the cubby spot; the switch itself "fits", but the rocker part will catch on the trim which makes it unusable. Have to use the small OEM style ones. Unless there is perhaps a plate that protrudes past the trim around the cubby?

Did you try trimming this piece as shown? That's my plan then adding a faceplate on the outside to mount the switches in.

Negative, but if you had a plate that covers over that area (cleanly), that would do the trick. If that green line indicates also trimming some away from the top and bottom of the cubby trim; and/or if the plate just sits over that whole area. The plates I was referring to replace just the cubby part itself (which would have looked terrible with the surrounding trim cut away).

Though at that point I would also contemplate how far the switch is going to stick out, vs chance of hitting it with your knee getting in/out of truck.

FWIW, I ended up conceding and using an OEM style push button, and since I only have one for now, I just put it below the cubby where the switch blank plate is.

Thinking I can use one of those universal mounts and contour it to match the factory lines. Going by the spec sheets for the switches looks like I will have about .12" to spare.

Would be interested in seeing how that turns out, if you give it a go.
