Hello....I live in the Rockies travel about 20,000 miles a year between Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Montana, much of it in the winter. I'm hoping his vehicle is the right tool for the job. Did a lot of research but still quite a total novice when it comes to Toyotas, trucks and Toyota 4WD.

Looking forward to making the most of my Tacoma ownership.

Great trucks in the snow, but winter tires still make a major difference. Especially on the highway. If not a dedicated winter tire, then at least an A/T tire that has the 3 peak snow designation.

    Welcome.

Driver skill, the right tires and proper truck maintenance and you'll be fine.

I'm actually doing a thread search now to figure out dedicated winter tire options, a second set of wheels and tire pressure monitor logic.

    Working on them
I have had good results with the BF Goodrich T/A KO 2 all terrain Tires along with 2 tubes bags of Sand with one on each side tied in place behind the rear wheel wells, I get the 50# ones from Home Depot.

Not everyone uses the tire sensors in winter tire packages. The dealership threw in my set of winter rims/tires, but not the sensors.
