Hello, after spending the last week moving in my brand new Tacoma, on the very last load a table slightly touched the passenger side rear window and shattered it.

What is the best way in going about replacing it? Do I need to replace the entire rear window, or can I just replace the panel that broke? Is it best to go through Toyota or through a window specialist?

i believe the glass has to be replaced as a unit. you can go through your insurance company...they will refer you to a glass/automotive window specialist ie. a Glass Doctor, Safelite etc.

also, welcome to the forum...sorry this happened, but many of us have been there before!!

When it happened to me, I just went through a standard windshield place. Didn’t have any issues.

Edit: entire unit was replaced. Went through safelite.

Thanks for the info guys, really appreciate it!

How much did you guys end up paying for the replacement? Still looking at my insurance options.

You have to replace the entire thing. Be sure they order the correct window (power / non power).

I’d recommend anywhere other than safelite. I had them do mine and they didn’t put the window in correctly, scratched the paint, dented the cab and then ruined all the plastic in the back of the cab. A $600 window replacement turned into $6500 of damages.
